Job Description

Office Assistant / Sales Representative Journal-Eureka The Journal-Eureka is looking for an organized, outgoing and motivated person to help keep our office running smoothly and grow our local advertising sales. This role supports our office manager and sales manager, combining everyday office responsibilities with active outreach to businesses throughout the communities we serve. We're looking for someone who takes initiative, follows through and represents our newspaper with professionalism and enthusiasm.
Responsibilities include:
Grow advertising revenue through cold calling, emailing, visiting local businesses and setting up sales meetings. Build relationships with new and existing advertisers, identify their needs and connect them with print and digital advertising opportunities. Follow up on leads, proposals and renewals, keeping accurate records of outreach and next steps. Bring forward ideas to generate revenue, attract advertisers and strengthen the newspaper's community presence. Assist with phone calls, emails, customer questions, paperwork, recordkeeping and general office organization. Support our office manager and sales manager with daily tasks and sales projects. Serve as a welcoming, dependable ambassador for the Journal-Eureka. What we're looking for: Strong communication and customer service skills. Comfort introducing yourself to business owners and asking for their business. Organization, attention to detail and consistent follow-through. The ability to work independently, manage priorities and contribute to a team. Basic computer skills, including email and spreadsheets. Sales, office or customer service experience is helpful. Success in this position means an organized office, well-served customers and consistent outreach that turns into new revenue.
