Job Description

Job Title:
Social Media & Event Marketing Coordinator Job Summary Tavern Blue is looking for a creative, organized, energetic, and detail-oriented Social Media & Event Marketing Coordinator to promote our restaurant, entertainment, special events, live music, private events, food, drinks, games, and overall Tavern Blue experience. This is primarily a marketing and social media position — not an event-planning position. Our management team and Event Planner develop and schedule the events. Your responsibility is to take confirmed event information and turn it into effective advertising that gets attention, creates excitement, drives ticket sales when applicable, and helps bring guests through the door. You will work closely with management and our Event Planner to make sure every upcoming event is properly promoted across Facebook, Instagram, EventCreate, our website, and other appropriate marketing channels. Responsibilities Review Tavern Blue's shared event calendar regularly so you always know what events are coming up. Take confirmed event information from management and the Event Planner and create a clear promotional plan. Create or coordinate attractive event posters, graphics, photos, videos, reels, and other promotional materials. Make sure every poster and post includes accurate information such as date, time, performer or event name, ticket information, pricing, age restrictions if applicable, and other important details. Publish and schedule content through Meta Business Suite for Facebook and Instagram. Create multiple promotional posts for major events rather than posting an event only once. Plan promotion far enough in advance so events receive proper exposure before the event date. Increase promotion as an event approaches, including reminders, countdowns, reels, stories, and day-of posts when appropriate. Create and publish ticketed events on EventCreate when required, including the event title, description, date, time, pricing, ticket options, images, and all other necessary details. Make sure the EventCreate ticket page is accurate before it goes live and update it promptly if event details change. Use the EventCreate ticket link consistently in Facebook, Instagram, the Tavern Blue website, posters, and other promotional materials so guests have a clear way to purchase tickets. Monitor ticket sales for upcoming events and communicate important sales updates to management so promotion can be increased when needed. Promote live music, themed events, special entertainment, holiday events, food and drink specials, games, private-event opportunities, and other Tavern Blue activities. Communicate confirmed event information and promotional materials to Tavern Blue's outside marketing company so the website and other marketing channels can be updated. Follow up with the marketing company when changes, corrections, or additional updates are needed. Coordinate with bands, performers, event hosts, or organizers when promotional photos, logos, bios, videos, or other marketing materials are needed. Tag participating performers, organizations, bands, and partners appropriately to increase reach. Share event information into appropriate local Facebook groups and community channels when permitted. Help build awareness of Tavern Blue throughout Coralville, Iowa City, and surrounding communities. Create engaging everyday content between events so Tavern Blue's social media remains active and interesting. Photograph and video events, food, drinks, games, entertainment, staff, and the Tavern Blue atmosphere when appropriate. Create short-form video content and reels. Respond professionally to comments and social-media messages or direct questions to management when necessary. Monitor social-media performance and identify which types of posts, events, videos, and promotions generate the strongest engagement. Keep promotional information consistent across Facebook, Instagram, EventCreate, the Tavern Blue website, and other channels. Immediately correct outdated or inaccurate event information when an event changes. Communicate regularly with management about what has been posted, what still needs promotion, what ticketed events are live, and what content or information is needed. What We Are Looking For Strong knowledge of Facebook and Instagram. Comfortable using Meta Business Suite to create, schedule, and manage posts. Comfortable creating and maintaining EventCreate ticket pages. Strong writing skills and the ability to create exciting promotional copy. Ability to create attractive social-media graphics and promotional materials. Experience with Canva, Adobe products, or similar design tools is preferred. Comfortable creating reels and short-form videos. Good photography and video instincts. Excellent attention to detail, especially with dates, times, pricing, ticket links, and event information. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage promotion for multiple upcoming events at the same time. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines without constant supervision. Comfortable communicating with management, the Event Planner, performers, bands, and our outside marketing company. Previous social media, marketing, hospitality, restaurant, entertainment, or event-promotion experience is preferred. Most Important Part of the Position A confirmed Tavern Blue event should never simply appear on the calendar and then be forgotten. Once an event is confirmed, this position is responsible for making sure people hear about it. That means creating the advertising, creating the EventCreate ticket page when tickets are required, posting and scheduling promotion, coordinating website updates, supporting performers with promotional materials, monitoring ticket sales, and keeping the event visible until event day. The goal is not simply to "post on social media." The goal is to help turn Tavern Blue's planned events into well-promoted events that people actually know about, want to attend, and can easily purchase tickets for when applicable. About Tavern Blue Tavern Blue is a unique restaurant and entertainment venue in Coralville featuring food, drinks, games, live entertainment, themed events, private events, and a tropical indoor-beach atmosphere. We have a busy and constantly changing event calendar, so this position is ideal for someone who loves social media, entertainment, creativity, and promoting experiences that people want to share with friends.
