Marketing and Communications Coordinator Mississippi Trucking Association | Jackson, Mississippi | Full time | In office About MTA The Mississippi Trucking Association is the voice of the trucking industry in Mississippi. We advance advocacy, safety, education, and member services for the state's motor carriers and allied businesses. About the role MTA is creating its first dedicated Marketing and Communications Coordinator position. This is a hands-on opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional who wants broad experience across social media, writing, branding, photography, video, email, websites, events, and digital communications. The coordinator will work directly with the MTA President to strengthen our communications, build upon MTA's established reputation, and make the Association's work more visible to members and the industry. This is an individual-contributor position with meaningful ownership, guidance from leadership, and room to grow along with the role. What you will do, First 90 days
  • Review MTA's existing communications channels and establish consistent branding, administrative controls, and publishing processes.
  • Reactivate our established Facebook audience of approximately 3,100 followers with a planned and consistent posting schedule.
  • Strengthen LinkedIn as MTA's business-to-business platform and align branding and links across Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, X, and mstrucking.org.
  • Develop a content calendar of three to four posts per week featuring MTA events, safety programs, advocacy, member stories, and industry news. Ongoing responsibilities
  • Help define and maintain a consistent MTA voice, look, and message across social media, the website, email, print materials, and events.
  • Create timely written, graphic, photo, and short-form video content that showcases MTA members, programs, events, and the trucking industry.
  • Attend events and member visits to capture content, including occasional overnight, evening, and weekend assignments.
  • Manage email communications, newsletters, announcements, and day-to-day online engagement.
  • Maintain basic website content and search engine optimization to improve visibility.
  • Track posting consistency, audience growth, engagement, website traffic, and email performance in a monthly dashboard.
  • Use MTA's website, email tools, social platforms, and GrowthZone membership system to connect content with members.
  • Work with leadership to develop communications materials and sponsor visibility opportunities that support nondues revenue. This is not a commissioned sales position. What we are looking for
  • A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, graphic design, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • A recent graduate or early-career professional who is ready to take ownership, learn quickly, and build a broad range of skills.
  • Strong writing and communication skills with a good eye for design and engaging content.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud, social media platforms, website content systems, email marketing software, photography, or video editing. Applicants are not expected to have mastered every platform.
  • The ability to organize multiple projects, work from a content calendar, meet deadlines, and represent MTA professionally.
  • A portfolio or collection of work from college projects, internships, volunteer activities, freelance assignments, or previous employment.
  • Interest in trucking, transportation, associations, or business-to-business communications is helpful but not required.
How we will measure success Success will be measured through content quality, posting consistency, audience growth and engagement, website traffic, email performance, member participation, event promotion results, and sponsor visibility. The coordinator will help establish practical benchmarks during the first several months. Compensation and benefits This is a full-time, in-office position based at MTA's Jackson office. It includes regular in-state and out-of-state travel, with mileage and approved expenses reimbursed.
    Salary:
    $50,000 to $55,000, depending on experience.
    • Health and dental: MTA pays 100 percent of the employee's premiums.
    Retirement:
    6 percent employer contribution to the employee's 401(k).
