Our mission is to create a San Diego where anyone, at any age, has the freedom and safety to ride a bike. We advocate at City Hall, educate riders of all ages, and bring our community together through events that celebrate cycling and demand better streets. Our events range from large-scale signature fundraisers to intimate, equity-centered community rides across all 18 cities in the county. We do not just plan logistics. We build belonging. The Role We are looking for a contract event planning professional to support the Coalition's growing event calendar on a part-time, hourly basis. This is a 1099 contractor position. You will work directly with our small staff team to handle logistics, coordination, and on-the-ground execution for events throughout the year. The right person is organized, self-directed, comfortable with the unexpected, and genuinely excited about the intersection of cycling, community, and advocacy. What You'll Do Coordinate logistics for Coalition events including Bike the Bay (our annual signature ride over the Coronado Bridge), community rides, advocacy activations, and educational programming Manage vendor relationships, permits, and day-of timelines Assist with volunteer coordination and briefing Support sponsor and partner logistics, including signage, activations, and recognition Communicate clearly with internal staff and external partners across multiple concurrent events Help document and improve event processes so the organization runs better each year What We're Looking For Demonstrated experience planning and executing events, particularly community, nonprofit, or outdoor/active lifestyle events Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to work independently and flag issues early rather than late Comfort working with a small team and wearing multiple hats Availability for weekend events and some evenings Familiarity with San Diego's neighborhoods, venues, and permitting landscape is a plus Passion for cycling, active transportation, or urban equity work is a plus (but not required)

San Diego County; mostly City of San Diego. Some work can be done remotely; events and collaboration with staff require in-person presence.
