Job Description
Position Summary San Diego Model Railroad Museum is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Marketing & Community Engagement Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our marketing initiatives, driving brand awareness, and enhancing customer engagement. Currently SDMRM uses a variety of earned, owned, and paid media including print, social media and online media to generate press and expand awareness to potential visitors of the San Diego Model Railroad Museum. This position requires a blend of creativity and analytical skills to effectively execute marketing strategies across various channels. Duties and Responsibilities
- The Marketing and Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for creating, assisting and/or managing museum event programming designed to support the mission of the San Diego Model Railroad Museum.
- Lead the development and implementation of marketing campaigns across multiple platforms integrating earned, owned, and paid media channels.
- Represent SDMRM in outside organizations such as the Balboa Park Marketing/PR Committee and other organizations as required and during media interviews.
- Manage on and offsite media segments. Compose press kits, news releases, and media alerts.
- Conduct market research to identify trends, customer preferences, and competitive analysis to inform marketing strategies.
- Manage and optimize e-commerce platforms to enhance user experience and drive sales.
- Utilize marketing automation tools to streamline processes and improve campaign effectiveness.
- Collaborate with the sales team to align marketing efforts with sales objectives and support lead generation activities.
- Create engaging content for email marketing campaigns and newsletters, ensuring alignment with brand messaging and target audience.
- Support product management by coordinating product launches, promotional materials, and sales collateral.
- Utilize SEO best practices to enhance online visibility and drive traffic to digital assets.
- Design visually appealing graphics using Adobe Creative Suite for various marketing materials.
- Provide guidance to outside marketing support agencies as needed. Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field preferred.
- Proven experience in a marketing role with a focus on digital marketing strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to create integrated marketing plans that utilize earned, owned, and paid media.
- Strong understanding of e-commerce principles and practices.
- Proficiency in HTML for website updates and email template design is a plus.
- Familiarity with marketing automation tools and CRM systems.
- Knowledge of SEO techniques to improve search engine rankings.
- Experience in print advertising and creating promotional materials.
- Excellent research skills with the ability to analyze data effectively.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and/or Canva for graphic design tasks.
