Job Description

The Chariho Regional School District is seeking applicants for an Alumni Ambassador at the Chariho Alternative Learning Academy (CALA). This is a grant-funded position for the 2026-2027 school year only. No benefits will be offered.

CALA is seeking a motivated and engaging CALA Alumni Ambassador to represent the Academy and share their experiences with current students, families, educators, and community partners. This position is designed for a CALA graduate or former student who can authentically share their journey, challenges overcome, and opportunities available during and after CALA.

This position will run a total of 80 hours from September 2026-June 2027. The Alumni Ambassador will support related events, presentations, travel, and outreach opportunities. Any travel will be reimbursed through the grant directly. The Alumni Ambassador will work with the CALA Director to establish a schedule and identify opportunities throughout the school year.

Responsibilities

The Alumni Ambassador will:

Represent CALA at school, district, community, and educational events.

Share their CALA experience through student panels, presentations, assemblies, and career/postsecondary events.

Speak with students about graduation, employment, college, trades, training, and other postsecondary pathways.

Serve as a positive role model and help students see what is possible after graduation.

Travel to schools, businesses, community organizations, and other partner locations as needed.

Collaborate with CALA staff to prepare presentations and student engagement activities.

Participate in alumni outreach, special events, and community opportunities.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a CALA graduate or former student who has successfully transitioned to employment, college, training, or another meaningful postsecondary pathway. Strong communication, public speaking, professionalism, reliability, and the ability to share a positive, student-focused personal story are essential.
