We are seeking Part-Time Austin, TX (hybrid; on-site during festival and events) About Indie Meme Indie Meme is an Austin-based nonprofit dedicated to showcasing bold, underrepresented voices from South Asia and Iran through independent cinema. Its flagship program, the Indie Meme Film Festival (IMFF), is the only festival of its kind in the American South and is now entering its twelfth year. Alongside the annual festival, Indie Meme presents year-round screenings, filmmaker conversations, and community events. We are a volunteer-driven, board-led organization supported by a small team of contractors and united by a deep commitment to cinema and community. About the Role We are looking for a part-time Marketing Coordinator to be the visual and digital voice of Indie Meme. This role keeps our audience engaged year-round and drives attendance to our screenings, festival, and community events. The Coordinator designs graphics, writes and sends our weekly newsletter, and supports social media promotion across platforms. It's an ideal fit for a creative, organized self-starter who is excited about film, storytelling, and building community around South Asian and Iranian cinema. Responsibilities Graphic Design Design engaging graphics for social media, the newsletter, event promotion, and screenings, consistent with Indie Meme's brand. Create promotional assets for individual films, festival programming, and community events (e.g., event flyers, social posts, story graphics, banners). Adapt and resize assets across platforms and formats while maintaining a cohesive visual identity. Maintain an organized library of templates, brand assets, and past graphics. Weekly Newsletter Write, design, and send Indie Meme's weekly newsletter, highlighting upcoming events, screenings, festival news, and community updates. Curate and organize content in collaboration with the Executive Director and relevant board committees. Maintain the email subscriber list and monitor open rates, click-throughs, and other engagement metrics to improve performance over time. Social Media & Event Promotion Support social media posting across Indie Meme's platforms (Instagram, Facebook, and others as needed) to promote events and drive attendance. Schedule and publish posts in coordination with the event and programming calendar. Help maintain a consistent posting cadence and voice, and engage with the community through comments and messages as needed. Ramp up promotional activity around the annual festival and key events, working closely with the Executive Director and event leads. Qualifications Required Experience creating graphics for digital platforms, with proficiency in a design tool such as Canva. Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft clear, engaging copy for newsletters and social media. Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook) and email marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp, Wix, or similar). Highly organized and self-directed, able to manage a recurring publishing schedule and multiple deadlines independently. Comfort working in a small, volunteer-driven organization where roles are collaborative and resources are lean. Preferred Interest in or connection to film, arts, or South Asian, Iranian, or diaspora communities. Experience with social media analytics and email performance metrics. Familiarity with Austin's arts and culture community. Working Arrangement Part-time position, with hours increasing around the annual festival and major events. Austin-based, hybrid; on-site presence required during the festival and select events. Flexible schedule with accountability to a weekly newsletter cadence and the event promotion calendar.
