Landscaping & Outdoor Services Sexton Lawn & Landscape Location:
Daphne, Alabama Territory:
Baldwin County, Mobile County, and surrounding Gulf Coast communities
Compensation:
$50-60k plus commission About the Opportunity Sexton Lawn & Landscape is looking for a motivated, relationship-driven Business Development Manager to help expand our customer base and grow our presence throughout the Gulf Coast. This is a field-based sales position for someone who enjoys meeting people, identifying opportunities, and turning new relationships into long-term customers. You will represent Sexton in the community, connect with potential commercial and residential clients, and introduce them to our landscaping, maintenance, irrigation, enhancement, and outdoor-service capabilities. We are open to candidates who bring either a successful sales background or strong landscaping and green-industry experience. You do not need to know every aspect of landscaping on your first day, but you must be proactive, comfortable building relationships, and motivated by measurable results. What You'll Do As the Business Development Manager, you will: Identify and pursue new business opportunities throughout the assigned territory Build relationships with property managers, business owners, developers, contractors, homeowners, community associations, and other potential customers Generate leads through prospecting, networking, referrals, community involvement, site visits, and follow-up activity Meet with prospective customers to understand their properties, needs, challenges, budgets, and timelines Introduce customers to Sexton's landscape services Conduct property and job-site visits with prospective customers Partner with estimating, operations, and leadership teams to develop scopes of work, pricing, and proposals Present proposals, respond to customer questions, negotiate terms, and ask for the business Maintain consistent communication with prospects throughout the sales process Develop referral relationships with commercial real estate professionals, property-management companies, builders, vendors, and community organizations Maintain accurate sales activity, prospect, proposal, and pipeline information in the company's CRM or tracking system Provide regular updates on sales activity, opportunities, expected closings, and market feedback Represent Sexton professionally at networking events, industry meetings, trade events, and community functions Support a smooth transition from the sales process to the operations or account-management team Look for opportunities to expand relationships by introducing customers to additional Sexton services What We're Looking For The strongest candidates will bring a combination of the following: Previous experience in business development, outside sales, account management, landscaping, irrigation, construction, property services, or a related field A proven ability to develop relationships and earn customer trust Comfort approaching new prospects and starting business conversations Strong follow-up, organization, and time-management skills The ability to listen to customer needs and recommend practical solutions Confidence presenting services, proposals, and pricing Self-motivation and the ability to manage a territory with limited daily supervision Strong written and verbal communication skills Basic computer skills and comfort learning CRM, estimating, and proposal systems A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record Willingness to travel throughout Baldwin County, Mobile County, and surrounding communities Experience That Could Make You a Strong Fit You may be a good match if you have experience in any of the following areas: Commercial landscaping or grounds-maintenance sales Residential landscape or outdoor-living sales Landscape maintenance, irrigation, enhancements, or installation Pest control, roofing, restoration, janitorial, facility maintenance, or another property-service industry Construction, building materials, equipment, or contractor sales Commercial real estate, property management, multifamily housing, or HOA services Territory sales, route-based service sales, or recurring contract sales Estimating, proposals, bidding, or request-for-proposal processes Building a book of business through networking and referral partnerships Direct landscaping sales experience is preferred but not required. Candidates with a strong sales record and the ability to learn the industry are encouraged to apply. Experienced landscaping professionals who are ready to move into a customer-facing sales role are also encouraged to apply.
