The Sales Manager will be responsible for developing relationships with residential homebuilders, general contractors, developers, property managers, commercial clients, and other construction industry partners. This role will focus on identifying new opportunities, expanding the customer base, strengthening existing relationships, and helping convert qualified opportunities into profitable landscape construction projects. The ideal candidate is an experienced construction sales professional who understands the Southern California market, is highly relationship-driven, organized, proactive, and comfortable working with customers, estimators, project managers, operations teams, and executive leadership. Key Responsibilities Sales & Business Development Develop and execute sales strategies to increase landscape construction revenue. Identify and pursue new customers and project opportunities.

Residential homebuilders General contractors Developers Commercial property owners Multifamily developers Property management companies Public and private construction clients Develop relationships with purchasing managers, project executives, construction managers, estimators, project managers, and other key decision-makers. Work to have the company added to preferred bidder and approved subcontractor lists. Identify upcoming projects before they reach the formal bidding stage. Maintain regular contact with existing customers to identify future phases, new developments, and additional work. Schedule and conduct customer meetings, jobsite visits, and relationship-building activities. Attend industry events, association meetings, networking events, and customer functions. Bid & Opportunity Management Work closely with the estimating department to identify and prioritize qualified opportunities. Assist with bid strategy for major and strategic projects. Follow up on submitted proposals and bids. Track bid status, award timing, customer feedback, competitive information, and reasons for wins and losses. Assist with negotiations involving scope, pricing, value engineering, and commercial terms when appropriate. Maintain communication with customers throughout the bidding and award process. Clearly communicate customer expectations internally before projects are awarded. Ensure commitments regarding price, scope, schedule, manpower, or contract terms receive appropriate internal approval. Provide leadership with market intelligence regarding competitors, customer activity, pricing trends, upcoming developments, and major project opportunities. Internal Coordination Work closely with estimating to understand project scope, pricing strategy, customer expectations, and competition. Coordinate with operations to ensure sales commitments are realistic and achievable. Participate in project handoff meetings as needed. Share customer and market intelligence with estimating and operations. Support leadership in evaluating opportunities based on revenue potential, gross margin, customer quality, project risk, schedule, geographic location, and available resources. Qualifications 3-5+ years of experience in construction or landscape construction sales/business development. Experience in landscape construction, general contracting, homebuilding, or subcontracting is required. Existing relationships within the Southern California construction market are highly desirable. Strong sales, prospecting, networking, and relationship-building skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Strong organizational skills and consistent follow-through. Ability to communicate effectively with executives, purchasing teams, project managers, estimators, and field leadership. Understanding of construction bidding, estimating, gross margin, contracts, and project profitability preferred. Ability to review construction plans, scopes of work, proposals, and bid information. Strong Microsoft Office skills. CRM or construction software experience preferred. Valid driver's license.
