San Francisco BayArea - role includes on-site event travel, as needed Position Summary The Event Sales Manager leads Johnny Doughnuts' Events Department, combining hands-on business development with operational leadership. This role owns the sales pipeline — fielding inquiries, pricing and closing proposals, and building corporate and community partnerships — while also directing the logistics, fleet readiness, and staffing that bring every event to life. The Event Sales Manager is accountable for revenue growth, event quality, and building the systems and team needed to scale the department alongside the company. Key Responsibilities Sales & Business Development Serve as the primary point of contact for incoming event and catering inquiries, responding promptly and professionally. Build and manage the sales pipeline — creating, pricing, negotiating, and closing event proposals and contracts. Maintain CRM (HoneyBook) and pipeline systems to ensure timely follow-up, accurate data, and forecasting. Build and grow relationships with community organizations, corporate partners, and event producers to generate new business. Proactively identify and pursue opportunities to increase event bookings and revenue. Partner with Marketing to support store launches, community activations, and brand visibility that drive bookings. Set and track sales targets, KPIs, and SMART goals for the department. Event Planning & Operations Own end-to-end logistics for all events, including truck scheduling, staffing, setup/teardown, and raw product delivery to stores and event sites. Ensure a seamless handoff from sales to operations, keeping clients informed from first inquiry through event completion. Develop and enforce SOPs, checklists, and event playbooks to guarantee consistent, high-quality execution. Oversee planning and execution across catering, food truck, corporate, community, and large-scale events. Develop playbooks for replicable events year over year. Document learnings, best practices and SOPs to build a library of institutional knowledge. Fleet, Equipment & Safety Compliance Manage day-to-day scheduling and maintenance of the fleet and event equipment to ensure operational readiness. Maintain fleet compliance, including preventative maintenance, inspections, registrations, and permits. Ensure vehicles and equipment are cleaned, properly stocked, and in safe working condition. Track and report on fleet performance; reduce operational risk through proactive planning and standardized safety practices. Team Leadership & Development Hire, train, coach, and manage the performance of event staff, including regular one-on-ones. Establish department priorities, Areas of Responsibility (AORs), and accountability measures. Foster a culture of safety, communication, ownership, and continuous improvement. Financial Planning & Performance Develop and manage the Events Department budget, including fleet maintenance and marketing spend. Monitor expenses and report on department performance against sales targets and KPIs. Partner with Finance to ensure accurate billing, invoicing, and expense tracking. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Production to coordinate dough and product allocation for events. Work with Store Managers to align event and store operations. Collaborate across Sales, Marketing, Production, Store Operations, and Finance to support company initiatives and new store growth. Qualifications 2+ years of experience in event sales, business development, hospitality, or event operations (food & beverage preferred). Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding sales or revenue targets. Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities. Proven leadership experience with the ability to hold a team accountable. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable with both client-facing and internal coordination. Hands-on, proactive, and solutions-oriented approach. Comfort with CRM tools (HoneyBook or similar), scheduling systems, and event management software. Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods during event setup/teardown. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the event calendar. What Success Looks Like This role strengthens Johnny Doughnuts visibility by growing event revenue and community partnerships, building scalable operational systems, developing a high-performing Events team, improving safety and compliance, and creating the infrastructure needed to support sustainable company growth.
