We are looking for a Director of Business Development to play a leading role in the next stage of our growth. The Opportunity This is a high-impact, commission-driven business development position for someone who wants to help grow a company, develop major relationships, and directly influence revenue growth. The Director of Business Development will be responsible for developing new commercial and enterprise relationships, opening doors with major organizations, and creating long-term opportunities across Summit's electrical and low-voltage divisions. This is not a role focused on maintaining an existing book of business. We are looking for someone who is comfortable prospecting, creating opportunities, building relationships, and closing business. The successful candidate must be prepared to operate at the executive level and confidently engage with C-suite executives, corporate leadership, facilities departments, construction teams, procurement groups, IT leadership, and other key stakeholders. This individual will work closely with Summit's ownership and leadership team and will have the opportunity to directly influence the company's growth strategy, target markets, enterprise partnerships, and continued national expansion. Key ResponsibilitiesNew Business Development Identify and pursue new enterprise and commercial accounts. Develop relationships with national and multi-location organizations. Generate new opportunities across electrical, low voltage, AV, security, structured cabling, and commercial service. Build relationships with general contractors, developers, facility management organizations, corporate real estate teams, and strategic partners. Develop relationships with senior decision-makers, including C-suite executives and corporate stakeholders. Create opportunities for national service agreements, multi-site rollouts, preferred-vendor relationships, and long-term partnerships. Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities. Consistently prospect and develop new business rather than relying solely on inbound opportunities. Enterprise Relationship Development Serve as a senior-level representative of Summit Electric & Data. Develop trusted relationships with executive and corporate decision-makers. Understand customer organizations, upcoming projects, expansion plans, operational challenges, and long-term needs. Position Summit as a strategic partner rather than simply another contractor. Identify opportunities to turn individual projects into broader regional or national relationships. Expand customer relationships across Summit's electrical and low-voltage service offerings. Sales & Opportunity Management Manage opportunities from initial introduction through proposal, negotiation, and award. Conduct executive meetings, customer presentations, site walks, and discovery meetings. Work closely with estimating and operations to develop competitive proposals and accurate scopes of work. Maintain consistent follow-up on proposals and active opportunities. Navigate complex corporate purchasing, procurement, and approval processes. Negotiate business terms within established company guidelines. Maintain visibility into customer budgets, schedules, decision-making processes, and competition. Drive opportunities toward clear next steps and successful close. Growth Strategy Work directly with ownership and leadership to identify new markets, verticals, and strategic opportunities. Help develop Summit's enterprise business development strategy. Identify industries and organizations with strong potential for multi-location and national relationships. Provide market feedback and competitive intelligence to leadership. Help strengthen Summit's position as a national electrical and low-voltage partner. Play a leading role in the continued development of Summit's sales and business development organization. Pipeline & Forecasting Maintain an organized and accurate business development pipeline. Track active opportunities, proposals, projected awards, and future customer opportunities. Provide leadership with clear visibility into expected sales activity and upcoming opportunities. Maintain accurate CRM records and account information. Provide regular updates on major accounts, pipeline development, wins, losses, and strategic opportunities. What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who is confident, driven, strategic, competitive, and comfortable creating opportunities from the ground up. The ideal candidate has experience developing significant B2B relationships and understands how to navigate complex organizations with multiple stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of business development, enterprise sales, or strategic account experience. Demonstrated experience developing and closing significant B2B opportunities. Experience working with enterprise, national, or multi-location organizations. Strong experience dealing directly with C-suite executives and corporate stakeholders. Proven ability to generate new business and develop accounts from the ground up. Experience in commercial construction, electrical, low voltage, security, AV, telecommunications, facility services, or a related industry is strongly preferred. Strong executive presence and communication skills. Comfortable presenting to senior leadership and large corporate customers. Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills. Ability to navigate long and complex sales cycles. Highly organized and capable of managing multiple high-value opportunities simultaneously. Willingness to travel for customer meetings, site visits, conferences, and business development opportunities. Compensation Structure This is a base salary plus commission position . The role is designed to reward performance, new business development, and successful account growth, with meaningful earning potential for high performers.
