DAY TO DAY AS AN ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER/ ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
The City of Craig is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for its residents by delivering essential services that ensure the smooth operation of daily living. Our Administration Department is at the forefront of this effort, emphasizing effective leadership, coordination, and support across all city functions. As the Assistant City Manager/Economic Development, you will play a pivotal role within the executive leadership team, spearheading innovative economic development initiatives that drive community vitality and strategic growth. This position demands high-level independent judgment and strategic thinking, empowering you to manage complex projects while fostering a high-performance culture aligned with our core values. Your leadership will help ensure that City operations remain efficient, transparent, and responsive to community needs. Strong leadership and organizational management skills are crucial for guiding cross-departmental teams and fostering a collaborative work environment. You must possess exceptional analytical skills to evaluate complex issues, prioritize competing demands, and implement effective solutions that align with community interests and regulatory requirements. Effective communication is vital, as you will represent the city in various stakeholder meetings, prepare reports, and deliver presentations. Your ability to build positive relationships with elected officials, community organizations, and business stakeholders will be key to advancing economic initiatives. Additionally, a solid understanding of public administration principles, budgeting, and strategic planning will empower you to develop policies and operational strategies that drive growth. Finally, possessing a high degree of integrity, empathy, and professionalism will contribute to nurturing public trust and enhancing community engagement. Required Education, Training, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other Bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution and three years of experience in Economic Development or Municipal Leadership; or a Master's degree and one year of experience in Economic Development or Municipal Leadership, or six years of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working within or alongside local government organizations. Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record required. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, motor vehicle, and background check.
