Director of Commercial Sales

Job Description

Own commercial sales for reusable satellite services, converting demand from payload developers, research and manufacturing companies, and hardware makers into signed, revenue-bearing contracts. Responsibilities include originating and closing hosted payload, flight qualification, and recurring mission-service deals; structuring pricing and repeatable agreements; leading proposals and negotiations; coordinating with engineering and counsel; and maintaining an accurate commercial pipeline. The summary above was generated by AI Director of Commercial Sales Denver, CO | Full Time | On-Site or Hybrid The Mission Space is the infrastructure layer for humanity's next industrial revolution. While reusable rockets have opened the door, true economic transformation requires infrastructure that makes orbit as accessible and reliable as air travel. At Lux Aeterna, we're building that future by developing the first reusable satellite platform with controlled return capability - transforming space from a one-way street into a two-way highway for innovation and commerce. The Opportunity We're looking for a Director of Commercial Sales to close the commercial contracts that turn demand for our reusable spacecraft into signed revenue. Demand is strong across payload developers, in-space research and manufacturing companies, and hardware makers seeking flight heritage. Your job is converting that demand into signed, revenue-bearing agreements and building the commercial book that scales with the fleet. The mandate is signed contract value, not pipeline volume. This is a unique opportunity to:
Real Impact:
Build the commercial business behind the first fleet of reusable satellites, enabling new industries and markets in space
Speed & Autonomy :

What You'll Do You are the single accountable owner for whether commercial demand becomes signed revenue. You'll start by closing what's already in motion, and grow into owning the commercial playbook - the deal structures, pricing logic, and customer relationships - that turns Lux Aeterna's early flights into a repeatable, multi-mission business.
Close commercial deals:
take counterparties from interest through pricing, terms, procurement, and signature Originate and close new business on multiple vehicle platforms, including hosted payload agreements, in-space flight qualification of customer hardware with recovery, and recurring mission services Structure agreements for repeatability and follow-on revenue, turning one-off demonstrations into multi-mission commitments and long term supply relationships. Drive proposals and contract negotiations end-to-end, working directly with customers, engineering, and outside counsel Maintain an honest, current commercial pipeline with clear stage definitions and close dates that leadership can plan revenue against What We're Looking For 5+ years closing commercial space contracts at seven-figure ticket sizes, with deals you personally negotiated and papered Direct experience with hosted payload agreements, rideshare or mission services contracts, or payload integration deals A live, callable network among payload developers, in-space research and manufacturing companies, and hardware makers pursuing flight heritage Proven ability to own the full deal lifecycle: outreach, technical scoping with engineering, pricing, negotiation, and contract execution Fluency in spacecraft technical fundamentals sufficient to scope missions credibly with customers and engineers Direct, low-ego communication style and a drive to build a commercial book from the ground up Location & Work We are based in Denver, CO and believe in the power of in-person collaboration. We are onsite 5 days/week by default, but flexible when life requires it. This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work. Certain roles may involve access to export-controlled technical data. To comply with U.S. export-control laws, access may be limited to individuals who qualify as a "U.S. person" under 22 C.F.R. §120.62 or who otherwise may lawfully receive such access. Compensation & Benefits The anticipated compensation range for this position is $200k-$350k per year plus performance-based bonuses and meaningful equity.. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, skills, and job-related responsibilities.
