In Property, Director of Sales / General Manager, Out of Property, Regional Director of Sales Job Description Your duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Basic Purpose:
Plan, solicit, book, and coordinate group/corporate meetings while maximizing the banquet space to meet/exceed sales goals. Plan, solicit, book, and coordinate room sales to meet/exceed revenue/profit goals.
Organizational Scope:
Position is responsible for negotiating room rates and catering rates, dates, and space for large and small groups/accounts. Essential Functions Solicit, negotiate, and book new and repeat business through various efforts such as telemarketing, mailings, and referrals to maximize room and catering revenues to meet/exceed goals. Proactively solicit new business by conducting outside sales calls, attending networking events, and meeting with potential clients in person. Collaborate with the Director of Sales to establish pricing, sales goals, promotional strategies, and development initiatives. Plan, up-sell, and detail the meeting/function with the client, including space requirements, times, equipment, menus, billing instructions, and other event needs. Prepare and complete contracts and appropriate documentation, coordinate with the appropriate hotel department, and ensure all client requirements are communicated accurately. Resolve client issues, complaints, and problems promptly and professionally to ensure quality product delivery, customer satisfaction, and repeat business. Maintain accurate and legible records, files, account information, contracts, and group histories to support current and future business and enhance customer service. Participate in special projects, committees, meetings, and other assignments as requested. Skills and Abilities Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices of catering, food and beverage, hospitality, group sales, and hotel operations. Strong understanding of sales techniques, business development, customer relationship management, and revenue-generating strategies. Demonstrated ability to manage people, prioritize responsibilities, and resolve complex problems effectively. Strong negotiation skills, particularly regarding room rates, catering rates, contracts, dates, and event space. Ability to conduct efficient and proactive sales activities, including outside sales calls, networking, client meetings, telemarketing, referrals, and follow-up. Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and communication skills. Strong customer-service skills with the ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients and business partners. Ability to investigate and analyze current activities and available information, identify trends or issues, and make logical recommendations. Ability to make sound decisions while following established policies, procedures, and company guidelines. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly when managing contracts, group files, event details, and multiple accounts simultaneously. Ability to work effectively with the Director of Sales, Revenue Manager, Catering Department, and other hotel departments. Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team. Proficiency with computers, email, spreadsheets, hotel sales systems, and other standard office technology. Ability to meet sales goals, manage deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced hospitality environment. A second language is preferred. Hours Required A minimum of 50 hours over a five-day period. Days and hours may vary based on business needs, client events, networking activities, and hotel operations.
