Job Description

Job Summary:
The purpose of the Sales Manager is to sell, coordinate, and service all groups, acting as primary contact from start to finish of each event, to ensure complete customer satisfaction. Additionally, they are responsible for the sales and service of special events as well as catering events with no group rooms attached (includes day meetings). The Sales Manager promotes and sells to targeted groups market for the WaterColor Inn & Resort. They generate hotel/resorts awareness through direct phone sales, direct sales calls, tradeshows, and networking groups. They collaborate with the General Manager to solicit, sell and confirm group business required to meet budgeted sales goals. The candidate should possess the ability to solicit luxury group travel. This position requires a high degree of independent judgement and discretion in decision making. The coordination of service needs to the Operations and Culinary/Banquets Team is critical for the success of the position. The ability to balance what the client wants with what is best for the property and work together in a team atmosphere driving revenues for the resort is also vitally important. Requirements of the position include a thorough knowledge of the practices and procedures of the sales. catering, food & beverage, and hospitality professions; effective communication skills, and the ability to negotiate, influence and sell the WaterColor Inn & Resort event space and services to groups and related events.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Must be knowledgeable of operations in all other areas of the resort, but particularly in the kitchen, front office, restaurants, accounting, and clubs. Must be computer literate. Must be skilled in accepted business presentation formats.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Hotel or Business Management, or equivalent experience required. Minimum 1 -2 years of experience in Group Sales & Service, Convention Services, Banquet, Hotel Sales, Marketing, or equivalent education and experience.
