Description:
Exalt Health, an acute rehabilitation hospital, provides an intensive rehabilitation program, and admitted patients must be able to tolerate three hours of intense rehabilitation services per day. Focused on caring for patients with complex rehabilitative needs such as stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, head trauma, medically debilitation conditions, neurological disorders, cardio-pulmonary amputations, orthopedic injuries, and multiple major traumas. Position Summary The Business Development Director plays a pivotal role in driving the growth and success of our inpatient rehabilitation hospital. This position leads the development and execution of strategic business development initiatives to increase referral volume, expand market share, and achieve the hospital's patient census goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Market Analysis & Strategy:
Conduct in-depth market research to identify potential referral sources, analyze competitor activity, and track industry trends relevant to inpatient rehabilitation. Develop and execute comprehensive business development plans and strategies aligned with the hospital's mission and objectives.
Relationship Building:
Establish and nurture strong relationships with physicians, case managers, discharge planners, insurance providers, and other key stakeholders across acute care hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and the broader healthcare community. Proactively seek new referral sources and strengthen relationships with existing partners.
Outreach & Marketing:
Represent the hospital at relevant conferences, industry events, and community functions. Collaborate with the marketing team to develop marketing materials, educational presentations, and outreach campaigns. Daily travel within a designated geographic territory to visit referral sources such as hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, physician offices, etc. This local travel could be anywhere from a limited radius to several hours of driving per day.
Clinical Liaison Management:
Oversee the activities of Clinical Liaisons, providing direction, setting performance targets, and ensuring they effectively execute the business development plan. Be prepared for a schedule that may change due to urgent needs of the hospital, patient evaluations or unexpected events at referral sources.
Data & Performance Tracking:
Analyze referral patterns, conversion rates, and other key metrics to measure the effectiveness of business development initiatives. Prepare regular reports for hospital leadership on business development activities and outcomes.
Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Licenses or Certifications Registered Nurse (RN), Physical Therapist (PT), Occupational Therapist (OT), or Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with an active license preferred. Valid driver's license and a clean motor vehicle record, as well as applicable insurance as required by state law. Education, Training, and Experience Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 5+ years of proven success in business development or marketing within the healthcare industry; inpatient rehabilitation experience highly desirable. Skills and Abilities, Proficiency and Productivity Standards The ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, may be necessary to accommodate meetings with healthcare professionals. Organizes and prioritizes tasks and projects, accurately completing job responsibilities within the specified time constraints. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work under deadlines and handle multiple tasks. Speaks and communicates English effectively in verbal and written format; writes legibly. Reading and comprehension at the level necessary to perform job duties appropriately.
