Position Summary The Territory Sales Manager is responsible for growing profitable sales throughout an assigned Southern Idaho-based territory. This position identifies and acquires new business, develops existing customer accounts, and serves as a primary sales leader for Interstate Batteries of Boise. The ideal candidate is a motivated, relationship-driven sales professional who enjoys working in the field, helping customers grow, and collaborating with operations, route sales, warehouse, and office team members. Key Responsibilities Identify, qualify, pursue, and secure new Traditional Independent Licensed Dealer and eligible National Account customers within the assigned territory. Travel regularly throughout the Southern Idaho market to meet with prospective and existing dealers. Build and maintain a consistent pipeline of qualified sales opportunities. Maintain strong customer relationships through in-person meetings, site visits, follow-up communication, and networking events. Conduct business reviews with growth dealers, including current performance, identified opportunities, and recommended plans for growth. Educate dealers about Interstate Batteries products, programs, services, training opportunities, and available business-development resources. Coordinate the physical setup of new customers, including battery racks, inventory, point-of-purchase materials, testers, route scheduling, and required documentation. Use Salesforce daily to prospect, develop the sales pipeline, document customer activity, and close new business. Review monthly gross-profit reports and communicate necessary pricing actions to customers. Assist with accounts-receivable collection calls and customer visits when needed. Complete a minimum of 30 in-person sales calls per week, including prospecting visits, proposal presentations, and growth-focused meetings with existing dealers. Visit National Account customer locations based on company and market needs. Meet or exceed established performance targets, including new-unit sales, growth-dealer goals, new account acquisition, and average selling price per unit. Respond promptly and professionally to customer questions, concerns, and complaints. Collaborate with the General Manager, Sales Effectiveness Lead, Route Sales Managers, office personnel, and warehouse team members to support customer satisfaction and profitable growth. Represent Interstate Batteries of Boise with integrity, professionalism, reliability, and a positive attitude. Qualifications One to two years of business-to-business sales experience is preferred. Previous experience in outside sales, business development, territory sales, or field-based account management is preferred. Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required. Demonstrated ability to develop customer relationships and generate sales growth. Strong prospecting, negotiation, presentation, and closing skills. Results-driven mindset with a commitment to excellent customer service. Ability to analyze account performance, identify opportunities, and recommend practical solutions. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team. Clear and professional written, verbal, and presentation skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel. Experience with CRM software such as Salesforce, Concur, Workday, or Tableau is preferred. Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires frequent local travel. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and a driving record that meets company requirements. Position Scope Manage a designated geographic territory with frequent travel to customer locations. Build relationships with existing dealers, prospective customers, National Account locations, and internal departments. Balance new-business development with the growth and retention of existing accounts. Manage multiple priorities while maintaining accurate and timely customer records. Earn base compensation plus variable compensation tied to sales performance. Work with limited supervision while maintaining accountability for established activity and performance goals. Work Environment and Physical Requirements Regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds without assistance and occasionally lift up to 75 pounds. Frequently sit, walk, stand, bend, and move throughout the workday. Possess the close vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment needed to perform essential duties safely. Work in battery warehouse environments that may include moving mechanical equipment, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. Travel regularly by vehicle and remain exposed to normal road and traffic hazards. Maintain a flexible schedule based on customer availability, including occasional evening or weekend events.
