About the Role The Vice President of Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) will lead the process that aligns demand, supply, inventory, and financial objectives across Sterling's Site Access Mat Sales, Mat Rental, and Structural businesses. This executive leader will design and execute a disciplined monthly SIOP cadence, strengthen planning and forecasting capabilities, and partner cross-functionally to support growth, customer service, operational performance, and working capital objectives.
Leadership Responsibility:
This role will lead key inventory, supply chain, and forecasting functions.
Travel:
Limited overnight travel, approximately 25%. What You'll Do Process Leadership Develop, implement, and lead the company's monthly SIOP process, including demand, supply, and executive reviews. Educate and engage the broader organization on SIOP processes, emphasizing timely communication, transparency, and effective use of company systems. Incorporate weekly rental fleet supply and demand review data into the SIOP process, as appropriate. Strategic Planning Lead a SIOP cadence that supports Site Access Mat Sales, Mat Rental, and Structural businesses across near-, mid-, and long-term planning horizons. Support the development of appropriate planning levels and safety stock strategies for finished goods and raw materials, including product type, stage of completion, region, and other key dimensions. Partner with Finance to develop multiple planning scenarios that support long-range financial planning. Demand & Supply Alignment Oversee monthly demand planning reviews that incorporate open orders, CRM data, customer insights, and market trends. Lead supply reviews to balance production, procurement, and inventory levels; identify gaps and recommend actions to address imbalances during executive review. Provide leadership to the VP, Lumber Supply Chain to ensure supply chain priorities are aligned with organizational goals. Performance Metrics and Analytics Develop, measure, and report key performance indicators related to the SIOP process, including forecast accuracy, inventory turns, utilization, lead time, on-time delivery, and rental business return on net assets. Integrate newly available Fleet RFID data into the SIOP process to enhance fleet management insights and performance metrics. Leadership and Culture Promote a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and customer focus. Demonstrate consistent commitment to Sterling's vision, mission, policies, and procedures. Build strong cross-functional partnerships to support departmental needs and broader business objectives. Support cross-training within the team and across departments to strengthen continuity and backup coverage. What We're Looking For 8-10 years of experience in SIOP, supply chain management, operations planning, or a related field. Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred. Demonstrated experience leading teams and building or maturing a SIOP process within an organization. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights. Proven ability to develop talent and build high-performing teams. Preferred Experience Knowledge of additional BI tools or technologies. Broad experience in operations and supply chain management. Experience in asset-rental, building products, industrial, or equipment-rental businesses.
