$45,885-$54,954 per year Are you organized, detail-oriented, and someone who enjoys helping people? Do you have experience with billing, accounting, or office management and enjoy being the person who keeps things running smoothly behind the scenes? We're looking for a Business Office Director to join our team and oversee the day-to-day financial and administrative operations of our facility. This is an important role that combines organization, accuracy, customer service, and leadership. You'll work closely with residents, families, staff, and outside partners to make sure our business office functions smoothly while providing a welcoming and helpful experience for the people we serve. What You'll Do As our Business Office Director, you'll oversee the facility's business office functions, including billing, accounts receivable, resident funds, records, and front-office operations.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the day-to-day operations of the Business Office
- Verifying insurance and payer eligibility for prospective residents
- Processing census information, resident fund transactions, cash receipts, adjustments, and other financial transactions
- Managing billing for Medicare, Medicaid, insurance, and private-pay residents
- Monitoring accounts receivable and following up on claims and payments
- Completing monthly financial reconciliations and reporting accurately and on time
- Managing resident trust accounts and facility petty cash
- Assisting residents and families with financial questions and, when needed, the Medicaid application process
- Completing and submitting required admission and financial paperwork
- Attending admissions and Medicare meetings and working closely with the interdisciplinary team
- Communicating census information with pharmacies, laboratories, and other outside providers
- Managing the front office and reception area
- Supervising and supporting Business Office and Reception staff
- Providing backup payroll support when needed
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring information is handled confidentially
- Helping create a warm, welcoming, and positive environment for residents, families, and visitors
- Working with facility leadership and the corporate office to ensure business office policies and procedures are followed
Following all applicable state and federal regulations, company policies, and ethical business practices What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with both numbers and people. You'll be a great fit if you: Have a high school diploma or GED
Have strong computer, keyboarding, and data-entry skills
Have knowledge of basic accounting principles
Are organized and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Have strong communication and customer-service skills
Are comfortable working independently and making decisions when needed
Can handle confidential financial and resident information with professionalism and discretion
Have good attention to detail and take pride in accurate work
Are comfortable learning and following established policies and procedures
Work well with a variety of people, including residents, families, healthcare professionals, staff, and outside agencies
Have sound judgment and the ability to prioritize tasks
Are patient, professional, and approachable
Are comfortable learning new systems and processes Experience That's a Plus Previous experience in any of the following areas would be helpful: Long-term care or senior living
Medical billing
Accounts receivable
General ledger accounting
Healthcare business office operations
