Job Description

We are an automotive dealer in the Terre Haute area in search of an experienced Automotive Sales Manager who is ready to lead, develop people, drive performance, and build a long-term career with a growing organization. This opportunity is designed for a proven automotive leader who understands that great sales management is about more than working the desk. We are looking for someone who can create energy, establish accountability, develop people, protect profitability, manage inventory effectively, and inspire a team to actively pursue business rather than wait for it to walk through the door. The ideal candidate is someone who has proven success as a desk manager or sales manager and possesses the potential to grow into higher levels of dealership leadership. What We're Looking For The successful candidate will: Have significant automotive retail experience. Have at least 2 years of desk management / sales management experience . Understand dealership sales operations and key performance metrics. Know how to structure and desk profitable, compliant deals. Accurately appraise used vehicles using a consistent, explainable methodology. Understand new-vehicle inventory, allocation, ordering, stocking strategy, and days supply. Have experience communicating and working with OEM representatives. Know how to lead a team that actively prospects and generates opportunities. Coach and develop salespeople rather than simply manage transactions. Hold employees accountable and address difficult conversations directly. Demonstrate strong customer experience and survey performance. Be comfortable balancing volume, gross, inventory, customer satisfaction, and long-term profitability. Be personable, approachable, professional, and capable of earning the respect of the team. Operate with a growth mindset and demonstrate the potential to advance beyond the Sales Manager position. Value loyalty, stability, and building a long-term career with one organization. Finance experience is preferred but not required . Experience in developing a successful Service-to-Sales process is also considered a plus. What Success Looks Like Strong candidates should be comfortable discussing measurable results from previous dealerships, including areas such as: New and used vehicle volume Front-end and total gross performance Average gross per vehicle Used vehicle appraisal and pricing strategy Trade acquisition and trade management Inventory aging and days supply Customer satisfaction / SSI performance Online reputation Salesperson development Prospecting and outbound activity Employee performance improvement New vehicle allocation and ordering OEM relationships Candidates should be prepared to discuss specific examples and, where appropriate, provide documentation supporting previous performance. Leadership Expectations We're looking for someone who believes leadership means setting a standard and then helping people reach it.
You should be comfortable:
Coaching underperforming employees. Having difficult conversations when expectations aren't being met. Developing talented employees for greater responsibility. Creating accountability without destroying morale. Challenging complacency. Building a proactive prospecting culture. Making decisions based on both data and sound automotive experience. Protecting dealership profitability while maintaining an exceptional customer experience. Candidates demonstrating career progression, increasing responsibility, and meaningful tenure with previous dealership organizations will receive strong consideration.
