This unique role combines external business development with internal patient experience management to drive growth in refractive surgery, premium cataract surgery, and other vision correction procedures. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable building referral relationships in the community, analyzing conversion metrics, improving patient journeys, and leading initiatives that enhance the overall patient experience. This is a highly visible leadership position with direct impact on practice growth and patient satisfaction. Key Responsibilities External Business Development
- Develop and maintain relationships with referring providers, including:
- Primary Care Physicians
- Optometrists
- Ophthalmologists
- Concierge medical practices
- Corporate wellness programs
- Community organizations
- Conduct regular outreach visits to referral sources.
- Organize educational events, lunch-and-learns, and community presentations.
- Identify new referral opportunities and strategic partnerships.
- Represent Boston Vision at professional meetings, conferences, and networking events.
- Track referral patterns and develop strategies to increase referral volume. Vision Correction Service Line Management
- Oversee the patient journey from initial inquiry through surgery and postoperative care.
- Monitor and improve patient conversion rates for:
- LASIK
- PRK
- EVO ICL
- Refractive Lens Exchange
- Premium Cataract Surgery
- Analyze patient feedback and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with physicians, technicians, counselors, and call center teams to optimize workflows.
- Ensure consistent delivery of a premium patient experience across all locations. Patient Experience & Conversion Optimization
- Track key performance indicators including:
- Lead-to-consult conversion
- Consult-to-surgery conversion
- Cancellation rates
- No-show rates
- Patient satisfaction metrics
- Online review generation
- Develop initiatives to reduce friction points in the patient journey.
- Implement best practices to improve patient education and confidence.
- Work closely with marketing to optimize messaging and campaigns.
- Manage and improve online reputation initiatives, including patient review programs. Operational Leadership
- Coordinate with clinical and administrative teams to improve efficiency.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements.
- Develop reporting dashboards and regularly present performance metrics to leadership.
- Assist in launching new services, technologies, and patient engagement programs.
- Participate in strategic planning for future growth initiatives. Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's degree
- 3+ years of business development, marketing, practice management, or related experience.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data and drive measurable results.
- Strong organizational and project management skills. Preferred
- Experience in ophthalmology, optometry, aesthetics, or elective healthcare.
- Familiarity with refractive surgery and premium cataract procedures.
- Experience managing referral networks.
- Experience with CRM systems and performance analytics.
- Understanding of patient conversion and customer experience strategies. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Success in this role will be measured through:
- Growth in surgical volume
- Referral source growth
- Consult-to-surgery conversion rates
- Patient satisfaction scores
- Online review generation and engagement
- Revenue growth of the Vision Correction Division
- New partnership development
