This position is responsible for developing client relationships, generating new service opportunities, overseeing estimating and proposal activity, managing technicians and service workflows, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, profitably, and with a high level of customer satisfaction. The role blends operational leadership, sales acumen, and technical electrical knowledge to expand service revenue while maintaining quality and compliance. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the electrical service department, including scheduling, dispatch coordination, workflow oversight, and technician utilization.
- Drive business development efforts by identifying target accounts, cultivating client relationships, and securing new service agreements, maintenance contracts, and project opportunities.
- Prepare or oversee estimates, quotations, and proposals for service work, tenant improvements, preventive maintenance, repairs, and small-to-medium projects.
- Collaborate with operations, estimating, project management, and field staff to ensure accurate scoping, pricing, staffing, and execution.
- Monitor department revenue, gross margin, labor productivity, backlog, and close rates; implement corrective actions to improve performance.
- Recruit, coach, and develop service technicians and support personnel; establish clear expectations, accountability, and performance standards.
- Maintain strong customer communication before, during, and after project completion to ensure responsiveness, satisfaction, and repeat business.
- Review work orders, job costing, materials usage, and billing documentation for completeness, accuracy, and profitability.
- Promote and enforce compliance with all applicable safety policies, electrical codes, company standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Support strategic planning for department growth, including service offerings, market positioning, key account development, and pricing strategy. Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in business, construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience in commercial or industrial electrical service, construction, or related operations.
- Proven leadership experience managing field teams, service operations, or project delivery functions.
- Demonstrated success in business development, account management, estimating, or sales within an electrical or construction services environment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, service troubleshooting, maintenance practices, and applicable codes and standards.
- Ability to read plans, specifications, and scopes of work, and translate them into accurate pricing and execution plans.
- Experience with scheduling, dispatching, service management software, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong financial and analytical skills, including budgeting, job costing, pricing, and margin management.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, customer service, and problem-solving abilities.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally for client meetings, site visits, and business development activities. Core Competencies
