full-time Job Overview This is a hands-on consulting lead seat supporting Army Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness (FIAR). You will own the senior client relationship, run the engagement, and help Army organizations tighten financial processes, controls, and documentation so they can get and stay audit-ready. You still build the PowerPoint and Excel the client uses. Remote home base is fine; Washington, D.C. / Maryland / Virginia (DMV) preferred. Client-site travel as the engagement ramps, then less once it is established. What you'll do Lead complex client engagements from problem framing through delivery and implementation Build trust with senior client leaders; facilitate executive meetings and decision forums Set the quality bar for PowerPoint, Excel, and written products, including building and editing deliverables yourself on a lean team Run the engagement workplan: scope, milestones, risks, staffing, budget, and partner coordination Negotiate clear work lanes with primes, subcontractors, and peer firms so the client sees one coherent team Spot follow-on needs, shape adjacent opportunities, and help grow the account and practice What we're looking for 10+ years of experience, with real depth in management, strategy, or transformation consulting (or a comparable client-services environment) 5+ years leading consulting engagements or major workstreams with senior-client accountability Proven ability to navigate ambiguous client situations and become a trusted adviser Strong executive presence plus advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills (you personally structure the story and the analysis) Solid program management across scope, schedule, quality, and risk Experience shaping follow-on work and working across firm and partner boundaries Bachelor's degree; ability to obtain/maintain Secret clearance and client-site access Willingness to travel to client sites about three to four days per week Nice to have Department of War or other federal experience in acquisition, industrial base, logistics, readiness, transformation, workforce, or technology Top-tier strategy or management consulting background Experience standing up a new account, offering, or market area Master's degree Familiarity with AI/ML, automation, or digital transformation in a federal setting If you're a consulting leader who still likes being hands-on and wants high-impact defense work with room to build relationships and offerings, I'd like to talk.
