Job Description

Colwen Hotels is seeking an experienced Regional Director of Sales to lead and support the Portland, Maine portfolio of hotels within our growing organization. In this strategic leadership role, you will partner closely with hotel leadership teams, revenue management, and corporate stakeholders to develop and execute sales and marketing strategies that maximize revenue, profitability, and market share. You will mentor and develop sales professionals, cultivate key client relationships, and identify new business opportunities while ensuring exceptional guest and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities Sales Leadership & Revenue Growth Lead, develop, and mentor Directors of Sales, Sales Managers, and Sales Coordinators across an assigned hotel portfolio. Establish sales goals, performance expectations, and accountability measures to drive revenue growth. Develop and execute strategic sales and marketing plans that align with annual budget and profitability objectives. Partner with Revenue Management and General Managers to optimize rate, occupancy, and market share performance. Identify and pursue new business opportunities across all market segments, including group, corporate transient, association, government, SMERF, and social markets. Maintain and expand relationships with key accounts, clients, and industry partners. Business Development Drive proactive sales efforts through outside sales calls, client meetings, site tours, networking events, prospecting initiatives, and targeted account strategies. Develop account saturation plans for key markets and strategic accounts. Represent Colwen Hotels at industry events, trade shows, networking functions, and community organizations. Build and maintain strong relationships with brand representatives, tourism partners, and local business leaders. Team Development & Operations Recruit, train, coach, and retain top sales talent. Conduct regular sales strategy reviews and performance evaluations. Ensure sales teams adhere to Colwen and brand sales standards and best practices. Collaborate with hotel operations teams to ensure successful execution of group and event business. Maintain a thorough understanding of assigned hotels, including accommodations, meeting space, amenities, competitive positioning, and market dynamics. Strategic Planning Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and industry conditions to identify opportunities and mitigate risks. Provide regular forecasting, business reviews, and strategic recommendations to hotel and corporate leadership. Assist in annual budgeting, business planning, and long-term revenue strategy development. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of Hotel Director of Sales experience. Minimum 7 years of successful hotel sales experience with a demonstrated record of revenue achievement. Multi-property or regional sales leadership experience required. Experience working with major brands including Marriott, Hilton, and Choice preferred. Experience selling group, catering, conference, and event space. Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills. Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and negotiation abilities. Highly organized with strong analytical and strategic planning capabilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and hotel sales systems. Experience with Delphi, CI/TY, and Agency360 preferred. Ability to travel regularly throughout assigned portfolio.
