Job Description
Position Summary The Chemical Sales Manager is responsible for leading and managing route sales operations for a company specializing in automotive appearance chemicals and related products. This role oversees route sales representatives, customer relationships, inventory management, and sales growth initiatives across automotive dealerships, detailing shops, and automotive reconditioning facilities. The Chemical Sales Manager drives revenue growth by developing and coaching sales personnel, strengthening customer partnerships, and ensuring exceptional service throughout the assigned territory. The successful candidate will have experience in route sales leadership, automotive dealership operations, detailing services, and vehicle reconditioning, along with a proven ability to grow accounts, develop high-performing teams, and serve as a trusted partner to customers. Sales Leadership & Growth Direct and manage daily route sales operations and delivery activities. Develop and execute sales strategies to grow revenue, improve route performance, and increase market share. Identify opportunities to expand business with existing customers and secure new accounts. Ride along with drivers to provide coaching, sales training, customer support, and route optimization. Monitor route sales performance and provide regular feedback, coaching, and performance metrics. Ensure sales goals and profitability targets are achieved or exceeded. Team Management Supervise, train, motivate, and develop route sales representatives and delivery drivers. Conduct performance reviews and establish performance expectations and goals. Address employee performance concerns and corrective actions in accordance with company policies. Promote a positive, customer-focused, and safety-oriented culture. Customer Relationship Management Build and maintain strong customer relationships. Visit customer locations regularly to evaluate service quality and identify growth opportunities. Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention. Inventory & Operational Management Monitor inventory levels on delivery vehicles and coordinate replenishment activities. Ensure accurate inventory reconciliation, product rotation, and shrinkage control. Work closely with warehouse personnel to maintain proper stock levels and product availability. Oversee route scheduling, daily reports, and operational planning. Maintain documentation related to sales processes, prospecting activities, inventory management, and truck operations. Compliance & Safety Ensure compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and applicable transportation regulations. Monitor vehicle condition and coordinate maintenance requirements as needed. Promote safe driving practices and proper handling of products. Maintain all required records and operational documentation. Qualifications Minimum 3-5 years of sales management, route sales management, or territory management experience. Minimum 3 years of experience working with automotive dealerships, automotive appearance products, detailing operations, or vehicle reconditioning services. Demonstrated experience leading, coaching, and developing sales teams. Strong understanding of automotive dealership operations, detail departments, and vehicle reconditioning processes. Proven success in business development, account growth, and customer retention. Experience managing inventory, route operations, and sales performance metrics. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to lift and move products as required. Compensation is based on experience and qualifications.
