Drive Production. Build a High-Performance Sales Organization. Liberty 1 Lending is hiring an experienced, competitive, and growth-focused Director of Mortgage Sales to lead, develop, and expand our team of Mortgage Loan Officers. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands mortgage sales, knows how to motivate producers, and can create the structure and accountability needed to consistently grow loan volume. The Director of Mortgage Sales will be responsible for recruiting and developing Loan Officers, managing sales performance, improving conversion rates, strengthening referral relationships, and helping the company continue scaling within a Top 10 UWM brokerage environment. Responsibilities Lead, coach, and manage a team of Mortgage Loan Officers and Loan Officer Assistants Establish individual and team production goals Monitor daily sales activity, lead follow-up, applications, preapprovals, submissions, and closings Conduct regular one-on-one coaching sessions and team sales meetings Develop sales scripts, follow-up strategies, and lead-conversion processes Hold team members accountable for activity, performance, and production expectations Review pipelines and help Loan Officers overcome borrower, documentation, or deal-structuring challenges Train Loan Officers on product knowledge, borrower communication, objection handling, and relationship building Support newly licensed Loan Officers as they transition into full production Help Loan Officer Assistants prepare for the
SAFE/NMLS
exam and advance into Loan Officer roles Build and maintain relationships with real estate agents, builders, financial professionals, and other referral partners Create strategies for generating new purchase and refinance business Collaborate with operations, processing, underwriting, and leadership to improve the borrower experience Identify workflow issues and implement processes that improve speed, efficiency, and closing ratios Track sales metrics and provide regular performance reports to executive leadership Ensure the sales team follows company policies, licensing requirements, and applicable lending regulations Maintain personal production or assist with strategic loan opportunities when needed Help develop a competitive, accountable, and performance-driven office culture Job Requirements Proven mortgage sales or mortgage leadership experience Strong understanding of the loan origination process and mortgage products Active NMLS license in good standing preferred Demonstrated ability to recruit, coach, and develop sales professionals Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills Comfortable managing performance and holding team members accountable Ability to analyze sales metrics, pipelines, and conversion rates Strong knowledge of CRM systems and lead-management processes Organized, detail-focused, and able to manage multiple priorities Competitive, goal-driven, and motivated by team growth Strong problem-solving and deal-structuring abilities Experience working with UWM products and systems preferred Knowledge of Fair Housing, RESPA, TILA, ECOA, and applicable mortgage regulations preferred Ability to work in person at our Livonia, Michigan office Preferred Experience Mortgage loan origination: 3+ years Mortgage sales leadership or management: 2+ years Recruiting and developing Loan Officers Managing a high-volume mortgage sales pipeline Building real estate agent and referral-partner relationships Demonstrated history of meeting or exceeding production goals Compensation and Growth Competitive base salary or leadership draw Commission and performance-based compensation Team production overrides Uncapped earning potential Leadership access and advancement opportunities Health, dental, and vision insurance Final compensation structure will be based on experience, production history, leadership ability, and the size and performance of the team managed.
