Job Description
Business Development ManagerOur client is seeking a seasoned Business Development Manager to join their dynamic sales team. This is a hunter-focused sales role responsible for providing customers with end-of-line packaging solutions and related services.
The majority of this position will be field-based, with a strong focus on prospecting, meeting with customers, conducting sales calls, and consistently growing sales through new business development.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in industrial sales, strong business development skills, and experience with packaging, equipment, distribution, or related industries.
Key ResponsibilitiesTravel throughout the assigned territory to prospect for new business, present products, and identify customer needs and opportunities.
Develop a strong understanding of customers' businesses and growth objectives.
Identify and acquire new business using consultative, solution-based, and value-based selling strategies.
Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline through CRM systems, industry connections, trade shows, and strategic prospecting.
Present solutions, negotiate terms, and close sales while maintaining company pricing and margin guidelines.
Manage objections and navigate complex buying decisions to successfully close opportunities.
Own the complete sales cycle from prospecting through closing.
Consistently achieve assigned sales targets and business development objectives.
Develop and maintain long-term customer relationships to drive repeat business and account growth.
Communicate with customers regularly to ensure satisfaction and address post-sale issues.
Maintain accurate records of sales activities, opportunities, wins, losses, and customer relationships.
Keep CRM records current to support accurate forecasting and sales visibility.
Stay informed about products, industry trends, market conditions, and competitive offerings.
Represent the organization professionally at customer meetings, industry events, and trade shows.
Conduct all business activities in accordance with company values, policies, and ethical standards.
QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
Minimum 4 years of industrial sales experience.
Experience in flexible packaging, packaging equipment, distribution, or related industries strongly preferred.
Strong interest in packaging, equipment, and end-of-line automation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
Experience with CRM systems preferred.
Strong understanding of consultative, solution-based, and value-based selling methodologies.
Proven track record of achieving sales goals and successfully acquiring new business.
Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.
Strong negotiation and closing abilities.
Highly organized with excellent follow-up skills and a strong sense of urgency.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
Ability to understand and interpret technical information and procedures.
Ability to accurately calculate ratios, percentages, budgets, and ROI.Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively.
