Industrial Manufacturing - About the Role We are seeking a New Business Development Manager on behalf of our client, a Midwest-based organization that provides products and services to wholesale dealers and retail partners. This role is responsible for driving profitable sales growth by identifying, developing, and closing new wholesale dealer relationships throughout the Midwest. The New Business Development Manager will own the new-dealer development process from initial prospecting through signed partnership and successful launch. This is a results-oriented sales role focused on building a strong pipeline, understanding prospective dealers' business needs, presenting compelling solutions, overcoming objections, and converting qualified prospects into productive long-term partners. This position requires approximately 50% travel throughout the territory, including Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Nebraska, South Dakota, and other identified markets. The selected candidate must reside within the assigned territory and have the ability to work remotely when not traveling. Job Description As the New Business Development Manager, you will develop new business opportunities, establish relationships with prospective dealers, and help expand the organization's presence across existing and emerging markets. You will work closely with prospective partners throughout the sales cycle while collaborating with internal teams to ensure new dealers are successfully onboarded and positioned for long-term success.
Key responsibilities include:
Identify and prospect high-potential dealers through market research, referrals, industry relationships, trade shows, direct outreach, and other lead-generation methods. Develop and maintain a strong network of industry contacts and referral sources to generate new business opportunities. Build, maintain, and actively manage a qualified new-business pipeline within the CRM, moving prospects from initial contact through close. Establish credibility and develop relationships with business owners and other key decision-makers. Assess prospective dealers' business needs and present relevant products, services, and value propositions. Represent the organization at industry conventions, trade shows, trainings, and other events. Support and train dealers on available products and services. Partner with management to identify potential acquisition opportunities, territories, and new markets. Coordinate the onboarding and launch of newly acquired dealers, ensuring an effective transition to internal support resources. Monitor new-dealer performance during the initial launch period and take appropriate action to help accounts reach their sales potential. Manage the assigned territory by prioritizing opportunities based on revenue potential and likelihood of success. Demonstrate and promote the organization's culture, mission, and values. Perform other duties as assigned. Working Conditions & Physical Requirements Approximately 50% travel is required to meet with and train dealers and attend industry trainings, conventions, and trade shows. Must be able to work remotely and reside within the assigned territory. Must be able to sit for extended periods while traveling. Ability to lift items weighing up to 75 pounds, as well as push, pull, kneel, bend, and stand for extended periods. Ability to work effectively and maintain composure in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment. A pre-employment physical, drug screening, and criminal background check are required prior to hire.
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. 2-3 years of sales experience. Demonstrated ability to prospect, develop, and close new business opportunities. Strong business acumen with the ability to identify mutually beneficial sales opportunities. Ability to establish relationships and build credibility with business owners and key decision-makers. Self-directed and persistent approach to generating new opportunities. Ability to understand customer needs and translate them into compelling business cases and value propositions. Comfortable being accountable for measurable sales and new-account acquisition goals. Strong territory-management and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with online sales and marketing tools. Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company requirements. Ability to travel approximately 50% within the assigned territory.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's or bachelor's degree in Sales, Marketing, Business, or a related field. 3-5 years of sales or business development experience. Experience using NetSuite. Experience with digital and content marketing strategies. Knowledge of funeral home, granite, and/or retail sales cycles.
