Job Description

Purpose for the
Position:
To oversee and manage the hotel's overall sales operations, including the development of new accounts, maintenance of existing relationships, rate and inventory management, and the execution of sales and marketing strategies aimed at maximizing profitability, while ensuring high levels of guest and associate satisfaction
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Provides professional and courteous service at all times. 2. Qualifies all prospective leads. 3. Participates in the rate and inventory initiatives, including but not limited to participating in biweekly revenue management calls. 4. Oversees all hotel and franchise marketing initiatives. 5. Meets with and maintains rapport with individuals and contacts in order to produce groups and/or convention business, to include guest rooms, meeting space, and catering/banquet sales for both the group and transient markets. 6. Recommends hotel advertising within guidelines and budgetary requirements. 7. Attends all high-profile events hosted in the hotel, community, and city/county. 8. Attends civic meetings ensuring a positive rapport and relationships with area decision makers and opinion leaders including but not limited to, local chamber, convention and visitor's bureau, rotary, et al. 9. Schedules group rooms, conventions, and business group activities at the hotel. 10. Consults with other departments to facilitate services agreed upon by the sales office and prospective clients. 11. Assists the General Manager with the hotel's marketing plan and budget. 12. Formulates and executes projects for all market areas as stated in the marketing plan. 13. Develops and maintains departmental budgets. 14. Maintains a good rapport with area business leaders and local civic groups and companies. 15. Enforces sales-related policies and procedures. 16. Ensures sales activities meet or surpass profit plan. 17. Develops and maintains client files. 18. Develops and implements sales and marketing strategies. 19. Works with the Convention and Visitors Bureau to secure dates, availability, and rates for upcoming events. 20. Approves function space allocation for group catering and meeting bookings. 21. Develops and maintains relationships with media contacts in order to maintain public relations effort. 22. Stays abreast of competition and industry developments. 23. Increases market share based on disruptive innovation and strategizing. 24. Prepares reports as outlined including, but not limited to Productivity Report, Weekly Plan, Sales Call Reports, Owner's Reports, and Market Share Analysis and Forecasts. 25. Works closely with Food and Beverage and Rooms Divisions to ensure above average service levels. 26. Attends weekly staff meetings at the hotel and weekly calls with the management company. 27. Attends and presents data, as requested at all meetings with management company and ownership groups for the hotel. 28. Interviews, hires, trains, and evaluates all sales personnel as required. 29. Completes projects as determined by the General Manager and Vice President of Sales & Marketing. To do this kind of work, you must be able to:

Physical Demands:
Lifting 20 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 lbs. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree, talking, hearing.

Math Skills:
Requires mathematical development sufficient to be able to: Compute discount, interest, profit and loss, commission, markups and selling price.

Must have developed language skills to the point to be able to: Read newspapers, periodicals, journals, and manuals. Write business letters, summaries and reports using prescribed format and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style. Participate in discussions and debates. Specific Educational Requirements:
Four-year degree at an accredited institution of higher education or equivalent industry experience.
