Job Description

The Tree Farm Sales Manager oversees the efficient, profitable operation of the Farm Sales Office, managing both retail and wholesale sales, inventory, team leadership, and administrative workflows. The primary goal is to maximize the sale and utilization of available plant material by delivering high-quality service to external clients and coordinating seamlessly with internal company departments. Key Responsibilities Included but not limited to - Sales and Customer Service Actively drive retail and wholesale sales through expert plant guidance, personalized recommendations, upselling, and cross-selling. Serve as the main point of contact for clients, maintaining client records and updating status details in company work tracking spreadsheets. Partner with the marketing team on e-blasts, seasonal promotions, and relationships with local non-profits and municipality accounts. Team Leadership and Management Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate sales staff while encouraging ongoing learning in plant care and sales techniques. Conduct daily morning team meetings and represent the department in weekly managerial and inter-departmental coordination meetings. Oversee weekly employee timesheets and submit adjustments to the payroll department. Inventory, Merchandising, and Receiving Monitor, organize, and restock plant material in retail container yards and balled-and-burlapped (B&B) display areas. Coordinate plant deliveries from third-party vendors and internal farm sites with the plant buyer and farm management team. Oversee plant pricing, software entry, and physical tagging using Gardenware and Nicelabel software. Office and Financial Operations Manage daily opening and closing procedures, including site gates, signage, sales office setup, and utility vehicles. Process customer orders, held invoices, cash drawer balances, and daily transaction reports matching QuickBooks POS to Square records. Tally cash and check payments weekly for delivery to the business office.
Seasonal Operations Winter:
Conduct comprehensive field inventory measuring height and caliper of all trees/shrubs, update catalogs, and finalize pricing guidelines.
Spring:
Prepare seasonal staffing schedules, expand operational hours, order seasonal supplies, and reach out to clients on the "Client Wish List."
Summer/Autumn:
Execute post-holiday plant sales, coordinate crop replanting schedules, and advise clients on seasonal planting timelines. Required Qualifications and Skills Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions. Strong plant knowledge and experience in nursery, garden center, or landscape sales operations. Ability and willingness to stay up-to-date in current horticulture knowledge and trends. Hands-on experience with Point of Sale (POS) systems (QuickBooks POS, Square) and spreadsheet management. Ability to operate basic yard vehicles (Gators) and adhere to health and safety regulations.

From $95,000.00 per year
