LDF is looking for an Experienced , Dynamic and Energetic Area Sales Manager for Poteau, Oklahoma who will be responsible for developing an effective relationship management program with assigned supplier(s) that adopts best-in-industry practices and aligns key suppliers needs with LDF strategic priorities. The ASM works under general supervision to direct daily sales efforts of all assigned personnel to assure attainment of specific sales and profit goals, brand and package quotas for assigned territory. The ASM is the communication conduit between the assigned supplier and LDF sales team ensuring resources are optimized and focused on profit driven supplier activities which also support company goals. You MUST be passionate about Sales, innovative and self-motivated with an entrepreneur, business oriented and customer focused mindset. In addition, you work to meet company and account objectives by implementing strategies and tactics while maximizing profitable long-term growth for both. Reports directly to the VP of Sales and are responsible for growing volume, distribution, market share and revenue within an assigned geographic territory. This role implements and executes sales strategies to meet assigned goals, manages and leads sales representatives & delivery team, supervises and conducts training for assigned personnel, and executes the monthly sales and marketing plan while ensuring quality customers service and relationships.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensures LDF Sales & Distributing Company s market leadership and fosters its position as the distributor of choice for retail customers. 1. Assures supplier and company quality assurance standards and procedures are strictly followed. This includes conducting monthly quality audits per LDF Sales & Distributing, Inc. standards. 2. Ensure all direct reports understand and follow all safety policies and procedures specific to their positions. 3. Communicates and manages the execution of sales goals assigned to a team of sales representatives and ensures performance is achieved. This includes net sales, promotions, merchandising, quality and incentive targets. 4. Responsible for the training and development of assigned Sales Representatives and delivery personnel through team-selling observations, one-on-one coaching, assignment of verbal and written action items, and ensuring follow-up actions are completed. 5. Ensures each sales & delivery team effectively uses the technology and information tools provided to achieve goals and manage retailer s expectations. 6. Maintains updated non-buy list for all key packages and draft products. 7. Effectively manages assigned budgets to ensure return on investment and overall business growth, including but not limited to tactical spending, point-of-sale materials, print materials, samples, and related expenses. 8. Coordinate and manage the weekend merchandiser team to include, accounts call frequency, training, and adhering to company sales & merchandising standards. 9. Is aware of competitive activity and communicates appropriate issues to manager. 10. Checks and assists in the rotation, stocking, and facing of customer inventory where required. 11. Operates Company vehicle and ensures assigned employees operate company vehicles according to Fleet Safety Manual to include reporting any vehicle accident to Fleet Manager and supervisor and follows accident policy outlined therein. 12. Performs monthly FDAA inspections on all vehicles in their department. 13. Handles customer complaints pertaining to routing or sales and assures customer satisfaction. 14. Maintains a strict adherence to a variety of sales administration duties including but not limited to; status reports, new hire forms, re-routing, supplier market visits, manpower planning and authorization of vacation and absences. 15. Ensures strict adherence to company policies, procedures and controls in regard to sales activities and functions. 16. Ensure that all sales practices are in accordance with rules and regulations as defined by the state and federal governing bodies regarding the sale of alcoholic beverages. 17. Conducts performance reviews for all direct reports to support growth, development, and feedback. 18. Responsible for recommending and initiating disciplinary action, in accordance with company policy and the employee handbook. 19. Works with the supplier management team to develop and implement retail programs that grow volume and market share. 20. Works with the various department managers to provide suggestions for sales execution tools and assist with implementation across the team. 21. Oversees the coordination of all LDF Sales & Distributing, Co. resources required for special events within the assigned area to efficiently grow brand awareness. 22. The ASM will be assigned targeted key accounts and will call on these accounts according to the call frequency assigned by the assigned Manager.
Target account calls will include:
o A pre-plan outlining what is to be accomplished. 23. Meets with the assigned sales & delivery teams on a weekly basis to communicate updates, track progress, and address additional opportunities. 24. Attend company meetings as requested by the VP of Sales. Holds sales and delivery personnel accountable for:
  • Achieving assigned sales and distribution goals.
  • Achieving market leader retail standards expectations, as measured through the retail assessment program, and ensuring all follow-up items are completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring retailer s expectations are met through efficient call & delivery frequency and timely follow-up.
  • Managing effective retailer relationships that support business growth and strengthen the reputation of LDF Sales & Distributing Co.
  • Properly using sales tools provided to achieve goals, including Gap Reports, sell sheets, Online order portal, e-commerce tools, and other applicable resources.
  • Working effectively with department managers (Non-Alcohol, W&S, Malt, Supplier Managers, Warehouse Manager, Delivery Manager) and support staff to achieve goals.
  • Ensuring sales & delivery representatives follow the approved new account opening procedures.
  • Ensuring timely completion of all assigned surveys by Sales Representatives, including draft surveys and other required surveys.
  • Reviewing and approving special deliveries requested by assigned Sales Representatives.
  • Ensuring retail product quality assurance standards are followed within the assigned territory.
  • Utilizing LDF Sales & Delivery Co.
e-commerce tools, including but not limited to On-line Order Portal and Fintech, to effectively manage account orders, payments, and receivables
Qualifications:
The employee must demonstrate advanced sales skills and complete company on-the-job training. This position requires thorough knowledge of the company s product line, including all brands and packages sold, each product s benefits, and company policies, procedures, and operations. The employee must also have basic skills in word processing, spreadsheets, database management, computers, handheld devices, and related software, as well as a working understanding of office functions and etiquette. Grooming and hygiene must be maintained in a manner that supports positive customer relationships.
Education/Experience:
College degree or equivalent preferred. Off premise sales representative experience.
Language Ability:
Advanced interpersonal skills necessary to deal courteously and effectively with diverse groups of employees, visitors, vendors, management, and executives. Articulate. Possess the ability to resolve customer and employee conflicts and to influence and persuade customers and employees.
Math Ability:
Basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in all units of measures, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals, as well as knowledge of trade math to include margin and profitability calculations. Have basic math and algebraic skills to deal with temperature/pressure equations and figure resistance.
Reasoning Ability:
Quantitative ability to analyze inventory levels, maintain procedures and employee productivity. Extensive independent decision making is required.
Certificates and Licenses:
