We are seeking a dynamic Area Sales Manager to lead our Sales Engineering function across the US West Coast, Mexico, and potentially South America. Requiring up to 75% travel, this role drives the promotion and sale of diverse vacuum technologies and OEM components. You will champion solution-based selling to distributors, manufacturers, system integrators, and end-users across vital sectors—including Life Sciences, Medical, Chemical, and General Manufacturing.Responsibilities Drive Business Growth:
Expand market share using modern prospecting methods, structured toll-gate sales processes, and solution-selling best practices.Manage & Acquire Accounts:
Nurture the existing distributor base and partner with dealer reps while aggressively pursuing new distribution, reseller, and OEM/system integrator opportunities.Provide Technical Support:
Serve as a trusted technical advisor to OEMs, large end-users, and academic research institutions to guide the pump specification and selection process directly in customer labs.Collaborate Cross-Functionally:
Partner closely with Field Sales Support, Application Engineering, Product Management, Operations, Quality, Finance, and Demand Generation to secure new business and drive profitable growth.Lead Commercial Negotiations:
Manage major pricing negotiations, define technical specifications, and ensure alignment across complex commercial agreements.Build Multi-Level Relationships:
Interface confidently with diverse customer departments on a technical and commercial level, including Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, and decision makers and leadership.Maintain Data Integrity:
Manage accurate sales forecasts and maintain up-to-date internal CRM reporting to support strategic growth objectives.Apply Subject Matter Expertise:
Leverage technical sales experience and vacuum pump technology knowledge to develop business and promote the Welch brand to new customers.Execute Strategic Agility:
Perform other responsibilities as assigned or required to support evolving business needs.Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, chemistry, Life Sciences, or a related technical field. 5+ years of customer-facing vacuum sales experience, with a proven track record of growth.Core Competencies Strategic Selling:

Must reside within 50 miles of a major airport to accommodate regional travel. 75% travel.Pay Range:
The total pay range for this role, not including incentive opportunities, is $125,000-$145,000. The pay range takes into account a wide range of factors that include a candidate's skills; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and geographic location.
