Job Description

About Community Impact Fund Community Impact Fund (CIF) is a nonprofit (501c3) dedicated to expanding access to affordable financial tools for working people. We partner with employers and organizations to offer small-dollar, affordable loans through our Impact Loan Program (ILP) , and we help credit unions grow their membership through our Field of Membership (FOM) program. We are a small, fully remote team that operates with the efficiency of a startup and the purpose of a nonprofit. Our people work from across the country — because we believe good work follows the person, not the address. The Role We are hiring a Business Development Manager to own and grow new partnerships across both of CIF's programs. You will prospect, pitch, and close — managing the full sales cycle from first outreach through signed agreement and launch. This is a real sales role with a real base salary, meaningful commission, and strong upside for people who perform. With two new marketing campaigns just launching, the pipeline is growing. This is a good time to join.
Compensation Base salary:
$42,000 On-target earnings at 100% of annual targets: $63,494 Stretch earnings at 130% of targets: approximately $72,360 Accelerated earnings at 150% of targets: approximately $78,808 Ramp draw: $333/month guaranteed (non-recourse) for your first 12 months while the ILP pipeline develops — because we know that program has a longer sales cycle and we want you focused on building it right, not worried about your floor.
Commission rates:
17% on new employer partner program fees (ILP) 5% on loan fee income from new ILP partners (12-month window from first disbursement) 8% on FOM credit union closes sourced by our distribution partner 20% on FOM closes you source independently — because when you do the selling, you should earn more No commission cap. Accelerators of 1.25× and 1.5× apply when you exceed annual targets. What You Will Do Impact Loan Program — longer cycle, higher value per close Identify and qualify new employer and organizational partners for CIF's loan program Work with HR, benefits, and executive decision-makers to structure program participation Own the full process from outreach through contract execution and fund launch Support early partner success to ensure the fund gets used and loans flow Field of Membership — faster cycle, volume-driven Close new credit union members for CIF's FOM program Generate your own leads through direct outreach (earning the 20% rate when you do) Convert inbound leads generated by CIF's marketing campaigns Work with our distribution partner, CUCollaborate, on co-selling opportunities Both programs Maintain a clean, accurate pipeline in Zoho CRM — every opportunity logged before close Report pipeline, performance, and market feedback to the Executive Director Represent CIF at industry events, conferences, and community convenings as opportunities arise What We Are Looking For Required 2+ years of B2B sales, business development, or partnership development experience Demonstrated ability to source and close deals independently — not just manage inbound Comfortable owning a multi-touch, relationship-based sales cycle Working proficiency with CRM tools Genuine alignment with CIF's mission of expanding financial access for working people A strong plus (not required to apply) Background in nonprofit, employee benefits, financial services, or community development finance Experience selling to HR directors, CFOs, credit union executives, or similar decision-makers Familiarity with CDFIs, employer-based financial wellness programs, or credit union operations Experience in a small-team, growth-stage, or mission-driven organization What We Offer Fully remote, flexible work environment Commission structure that directly rewards your effort — you earn more when you generate your own leads Accelerators for exceeding targets with no earnings cap A ramp draw that protects your income while the ILP pipeline builds in your first year Direct access to the Executive Director — no layers of management between you and the decisions Work where you can see the impact: each new partner program brings affordable loans to people who often have no other options About the Programs Impact Loan Program (ILP) CIF partners with employers — companies, nonprofits, municipalities — to offer their employees access to small-dollar, affordable emergency loans. The employer funds a loan pool; CIF administers the program, including underwriting and automatic repayment. For each new employer partner, CIF earns a first-year program participation fee plus an ongoing 10% administration fee on every loan disbursed. A single new partner creates a durable, growing revenue relationship. Your commission includes both the upfront fee and a share of the ongoing loan fee income for the first 12 months after the fund launches. Field of Membership (FOM) CIF partners with CUCollaborate to help credit unions legally expand their field of membership — allowing them to serve more community members. Credit unions pay annual dues based on their total asset size, ranging from $3,000 to $15,000 per year. Each close is a relatively quick transaction. Volume across the credit union market drives the long-term revenue picture, and the best individual commission opportunity comes from self-sourced leads.
Pay:
$42,000.00 - $79,000.00 per year
Benefits:
401(k) matching Cell phone reimbursement Employee assistance program Flexible spending account Paid time off Retirement plan
