Job Description
We are seeking a driven and strategic Business Development Manager to lead growth initiatives within the custom metal manufacturing space, with a strong focus on OEM customers. This role is responsible for generating new business, expanding existing accounts, and executing territory strategies to drive profitable revenue growth. This is a field-based, outside sales role (approximately 60% travel) requiring strong customer engagement, technical understanding, and disciplined sales execution. This position reports to the Director of Sales.
Role and Responsibilities:
Identify, target, and develop new OEM and industrial customer relationships. Drive opportunities for custom metal fabrication and value-added manufacturing services. Manage full sales cycle from prospecting through quoting and closing. Travel throughout assigned territory to meet with customers (approximately 60% field-based). Develop and execute territory growth strategy aligned with company objectives. Maintain accurate weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales forecasts. Manage and update CRM with pipeline, customer activity, and forecasting data. Collaborate with estimating, engineering, and operations to support customer requirements. Communicate capabilities, lead times, and technical solutions effectively. Develop and maintain strong customer relationships with key decision-makers. Resolve customer issues related to delivery, quality, or service. Represent the company at trade shows and industry events. Provide market feedback to support sales and marketing strategy. Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 3-7+ years of outside sales or business development experience in manufacturing.
- Experience working with OEM customers and custom manufacturing environments preferred.
- Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with CRM and ERP systems (MIE Trak or similar preferred).
