Director of Sales Operations Hazel's Expedited Freight | Titan Logistics Solutions — Dallas, TX Full-time | Exempt | Reports to the CEO The Role We are looking for a competitive, high-energy commercial leader who wins through people — and who is willing to be the person who holds the line. You will run the "Farming" organization for
Hazel's and Titan:
a team of Principal Account Managers who own our existing customers, grow share of wallet, and make sure every order, every call and every service recovery reflects a company that has been earning trust since 1977. You set the standards, put them in writing, put them on a scoreboard everyone can see, and hold the team to them every day. The role is highly visible. You report to the CEO, present your division's results to the executive team weekly, and sit in front of our largest customers yourself. It is also a role for a closer. This division runs on a list of specific deliverables with specific dates, and the standard is that they land on the date. If you are more interested in designing a strategy than driving it to completion through other people, this is not the right seat — and we would rather tell you that now. What You Will Own Your team
- Set written, measurable standards for every Principal Account Manager — inbound answer rates, outbound activity, account coverage, CRM discipline — and publish them.
- Measure every person against those standards weekly, in writing, on a scoreboard the whole team can see.
- Address underperformance in days, not months: direct feedback, documented, a written plan, and the decision to remove someone when the plan fails.
- Own scheduling and coverage so customer calls never go unanswered.
- Build and personally deliver onboarding and classroom training. No new hire learns this job by osmosis.
- Coach at the desk — listen to calls, review orders, turn mistakes into training.
- Hire, interview and onboard for every role on the team. Your customers
- Make sure every top account knows their Principal Account Manager, has met them, and hears from them on a defined cadence.
- Drive scheduled outreach that uncovers freight, projects and upcoming RFPs — and verify it is actually happening.
- Run monthly and quarterly business reviews with our most important customers.
- Intervene early when satisfaction or margin starts to slip. Your numbers
- Own the division's revenue and gross margin targets.
- Enforce margin-protection and accessorial capture standards.
- Review orders daily to catch problems before they become service failures.
- Build and present the weekly divisional scorecard; own the leadership dashboard and the live activity screens on the operations floor. Approximately 10% travel for customer visits. What This Role Is Not
- Not a strategy role. Most of your week is in the details of other people's work.
- Not a team that runs itself. This one needs active, daily, hands-on management and someone willing to have uncomfortable conversations.
- Not a role where someone else tracks your follow-ups. You will carry a long list of commitments and be measured on whether they land.
- Not a hunting role. New logos belong to our Sales team. Your growth comes from the customers we already have. What You Bring Required
- 7+ years in freight and logistics sales — full truckload, expedited and brokerage.
- Proven leadership of inside sales or account management teams, with direct evidence that you set performance standards and enforced them, up to and including managing an underperformer out.
- Success hitting revenue or gross margin targets through a team, not personally.
- Experience building training programs, SOPs and onboarding curricula from scratch.
- Comfort with the daily detail — order review, load data integrity, pricing execution, working through an individual rep's problems.
- Strong grasp of both asset-based operations and brokerage models.
- Fluency with reporting: you can build a scorecard, or specify one precisely enough that someone else can.
- Working knowledge of load boards and brokerage tools (DAT, Truckstop, 123 Loadboard, Sylectus, Triumph Intelligence / Greenscreens). Preferred
- College degree.
- Experience leading a newly formed or rapidly growing team.
- Familiarity with sales compensation design, handoff processes and account-based growth.
- Experience with any of the following systems: Xcelerator, Aljex, HubSpot, Tai, Zoom. Who We Hire For This Seat
- Driving and self-directed. You take ground without being asked, and you would rather own the outcome than be handed a process.
- Persuasive and outgoing. You energize a room, and you move people by talking to them all day, not by sending them documents.
- Fast-paced and impatient with drift. You push for the answer now. Slow-moving environments frustrate you.
- Willing to make the call. You decide with imperfect information and you do not need a rulebook to act.
- Direct. You can give hard feedback to someone you like, and you do not confuse being liked with being respected.
- A closer. You finish what you start, on the date you said.
- High stamina.
This is a fast, interruption-heavy job with real hours. You do not need to be the most detail-obsessed person in the building. You do need to be comfortable working in the detail — other people's calls, orders and numbers — long enough to find the problem and coach through it. About Us Since 1977, Hazel's Expedited Freight has served more than eight thousand customers, from small local companies to the Fortune 100 — manufacturers, public utilities, parts suppliers and everything in between. We run terminals in Dallas, Houston and San Antonio, with equipment from tractor-trailers to box trucks, cargo vans and pickups, plus air freight forwarding and charters when ground isn't fast enough. Titan Logistics Solutions is our brokerage. We are family-owned. We exist to help other businesses deliver on the promises they make to their customers, and to give our own people a place where they can grow. We believe integrity matters more than revenue, that safety is paramount, that service is both a joy and an obligation, and that hard work is usually what opportunity looks like in disguise.
