Job Description

Business Development Manager TFC Recycling | Chesapeake, VA Lead the strategy. Grow the market. Strengthen the community. TFC Recycling is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to lead our business development efforts while overseeing both commodity sales and community relations . This is a unique leadership opportunity for someone who can see the big picturefrom maximizing the value of recyclable commodities and developing new market opportunities to strengthening TFC Recyclings presence within the communities we serve. The Business Development Manager will lead a team responsible for Material Sales and Communications & Community Relations , providing direction, setting priorities, developing strategy, and ensuring both functions support TFC Recyclings overall business objectives. What Youll Do Lead TFC Recyclings business development and commodity marketing strategies. Identify and develop new domestic and international markets for recyclable commodities, including paper, plastics, aluminum, steel, and glass. Build and maintain strong relationships with buyers, suppliers, business partners, municipalities, and other key stakeholders. Negotiate pricing, contracts, terms, and business arrangements to maximize revenue and business opportunities. Monitor commodity pricing, market conditions, supply and demand, and industry trends. Oversee logistics associated with the movement of recyclable materials domestically and internationally. Establish and monitor sales goals, performance objectives, and year-over-year results. Directly supervise and provide leadership to the Material Sales Specialist and Communications & Community Relations Coordinator. Guide the Material Sales Specialist in commodity sales, buyer management, market development, negotiations, and related logistics. Provide strategic direction to the Communications & Community Relations Coordinator in community outreach, education, public relations, social media, events, and brand awareness. Develop team priorities, delegate responsibilities, monitor performance, and provide coaching and professional development. Partner with Operations, Production, Hauling, and senior leadership to ensure business development activities align with company goals. Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen relationships, increase revenue, and enhance TFC Recyclings visibility in the marketplace and community. The supervisory scope reflects the two positions you provided: the Material Sales Specialist focuses on commodity marketing, buyer relationships, logistics, and market development, while the Communications & Community Relations Coordinator handles outreach, communications, public relations, social media, events, and community partnerships. The ideal candidate will have:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in supply chain or an equivalent field such as finance, engineering, accounting, transportation, or operations. Demonstrated experience leading or providing direction to others. Experience negotiating contracts and managing business relationships. Strong business acumen with the ability to understand pricing, costs, market trends, and revenue opportunities. Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to cost drivers and business performance. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and competing priorities. Strong Microsoft Office skills, including advanced Excel capabilities. Knowledge of recyclable commodity markets and related logistics is highly desirable. A Bachelors Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.
