Description The Wholesale Banking Market President (the "MP"), within the Wholesale Banking Group (the "Group"), is responsible for the implementation and achievement of the Region's strategic business plan objectives, working directly with the Regional President on shaping strategy and planning day-to-day tactics. The MP is accountable for developing and growing the Market's loan and deposit portfolio, while monitoring the portfolio to ensure credit quality standards and procedures are met. The MP will also lead all cross sell and partnership opportunities among the Bank's various Lines of Business, ensuring a collaborative and integrated client experience. A typical Market will consist of a specific geography, including a team of Relationship Managers ("RMs"), which may or may not be specialized in nature. It is expected that the MP will primarily focus on the Market's overall strategy, LOB partnership and coaching/mentoring of RMs and team leads, to meet stated goals and deliver on initiatives. Position Accountabilities Provide clear and confident leadership of the Market's personnel, including partners in other LOBs
Develop an and implement a plan to inspire team(s) to meet goals and deliver on initiatives
Positioning the Bank as a strong competitor, in market, for commercial & industrial, middle market and specialty banking spaces
Develop trusted relationships with key stakeholders, clients and teammates based on a good grasp of the bank
Communicate and articulate Market, Region and Bank strategy, earning the respect of teammates, clients and the community
Demonstrate a strong and mutually respectful partnership with the credit team and unequivocally support the credit decision making process
Assists team to call on non-customers, negotiate transactions, cross sell the Bank's products and services and obtain approval for new loan requests.
Coordinate and lead efforts across the Bank's various Lines of Business to create additional cross sell opportunities, enhanced integration of sales processes, and improved customer experience
Ensure that RMs and team leads within the Market are accountable for ownership of their risk exposures at all times, while mentoring credit analysis, financial spreading and underwriting
Ensure timely and thorough monitoring of Market's portfolios and oversees / grows the Region's pipeline
Regularly meets with team and individual RMs to ensure that goals are being met and activities are monitored
Provide direct reports with proper tools and authority to execute their assigned functions. Develops skills of team through goal setting, coaching, problem resolution, delegation, training, counseling and performance management
Move the Market forward in growing revenue, assets, core deposits and meeting budget and other key performance indicators
Establish a solid presence and positive profile in the community that reinforces the Bank's strong brand image Organizational Relationship This position typically reports to the Wholesale Banking - Regional President Position Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's Degree required. MBA preferred.
Minimum of 15 years of experience as a commercial banker
Minimum 5 years of management experience in a growth oriented mid-sized or larger financial institution (or division within a large financial institution). Knowledge & Skills Advanced, demonstrable knowledge of commercial credit policy and practices
Broad credit experience in commercial lending
Has built effective teams that operate within a safe and sound regulatory environment, ensuring compliance standards are met
Track record of coordinating activities with leaders in other areas of an organization and leading specialty teams in generating revenue and loan growth while effectively managing risk
A dynamic leader who leads by example and is capable of inspiring dedicated professionals at all levels
Track record of building and leading a strong, loyal team
Strong presence and excellent communication skills, both oral and written, to lead and motivate employees, work directly with key customers, and effectively represent the Bank in the community and the industry
Organized individual who is able to operate at both a strategic level and tactical level
Able to effectively partner with other senior leaders and resolve conflict in a constructive manner Salary offered will be based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. This position is also eligible to participate in either an applicable incentive compensation plan for the position or a discretionary profit sharing bonus program.
