Position Overview:
The General Sales Manager (GSM) will oversee the day-to-day operations of the sales department, manage the sales team, and implement strategies to drive sales performance and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in automotive sales, leadership skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional service.   • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of sales professionals to meet and exceed sales targets.
  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to drive new and used vehicle sales.
  • Monitor inventory and pricing strategies to ensure competitive positioning in the market.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the sales department, ensuring smooth workflow and high customer satisfaction.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers, vendors, and manufacturers.
  • Set and achieve monthly and yearly sales goals and KPIs.
  • Conduct regular sales meetings to review performance, set expectations, and provide training.
  • Ensure the sales team is fully trained on product knowledge, promotions, and sales techniques.
  • Manage the department's budget, ensuring profitability and cost-effective operations.
  • Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Work closely with the finance and service departments to streamline operations and enhance customer experience. Pay Range. Bonus? Commission? Draw? Etc. $100,000-$175,000 including all pay components. Work Location Montpelier Vermont Required Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive sales, with at least 2 years in a management or leadership role. Ford experience preferred.
  • Prior sales leadership experience
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and managing a successful sales team.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring abilities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of automotive sales processes, financing options, and product offerings.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to analyze sales data and market trends to develop strategies.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
