ServSafe Food Handler Certification Food Handler Certification Full Job Description Overview:
We're looking for a reliable and customer-focused Farmers Market Mid Shift- Lead Backup staff member to help operate our bakery booth at local farmers markets.
Responsibilities:
- Dependable, punctual and ready to work at 8:00AM.
- When working as Lead, the shift will be 6:00AM
- 3:30PM.
- When working as Lead, accurately load and unload the van with all items needed to operate the booth.
- When working as Lead, secure boxes and tools in the van to avoid shifting during driving.
- Takes direction from the Farmers Market Lead (when not the Lead).
- Set up the booth. This includes setting up mesh canopy and tables, arranging products for display, setting up the hand washing station, etc. All this to be done before the booth officially opens for business.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of the booth.
- Keep products displayed and arranged neatly.
- Train onboarding employees according to Farmers Market manual training protocols.
- Restock and keep track of inventory and sales.
- Maintain cleanliness and integrity of farmer's market equipment.
- Report any arising issues to the Farmers Market Supervisor.
- Consolidate leftover products and sales at the end of the day.
- When working as Lead, replace any needed packing supplies.
- Flexible and able to cover shifts when needed.
Requirements:
- Current ServSafe Food Handler card/certificate.
- Strong interpersonal skills and enjoys serving customers, small talk, answering questions and smiling!
- Excellent customer service and communication with clients and staff.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Able to stand for long periods of time.
- Markets happen in all weather conditions but may be cancelled for extreme weather conditions, potentially at short notice.
- Quick thinking and works at a fast pace.
- Able to perform basic mathematical equations; proficient in handling cash / Square.
- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to lead by example, but also be a team player.
- Some common knowledge about pastries or at least has the interest to learn.
- Glass containers are not allowed inside the van or in the booths.
- Reliable transportation.
