What they do
A Head Cashier manages all checkout functions including ensuring adequate staffing levels on checkouts, the processing of sales transactions and refunds, monitoring cash drawer amounts and maintaining the checkout area. Head cashier provides first level escalation for customer issues and assists in the supervision and training of cashiers. Head cashier may also be responsible for opening or closing procedures of a store, including alarm operation, unlocking store and setting up of checkout area.

Reports to the Front End Manager.Assists in supervising the Front End team to ensure optimal performance and guest experienceOversees prompt and accurate fulfillment of online orders through platforms such as Instacart and MercatoAnswers enquires about online orders and provides information on productsConfirms and locks customers' orders and communicates fulfillment timelinesHandpicks items on customers' lists; scans using a handheld mobile device; runs items through the checkout counter and pays for them through cash or credit/debit cardsCollects cash, checks, or charge payments from guests and provides change and charge vouchers if neededVerifies employee discounts, returns, exchanges, and voidsEnsures accuracy of cash bank by counting cash, checks, and charge payments at end of shiftProcesses and monitors currency orders to ensure that cash is always available for transactionsMaintains an accurate safe count along with daily operation and maintenance of a cash recycling machineDocuments and communicates overages, shortages, sales data, price changes, and technical or price discrepancies, communicating issues to the appropriate managers and departmentsOrders and monitors inventory of supplies needed for the Front EndReturns carts and baskets to their central distribution areas, takes back go-backs/damages, fixes displays, and helps restockDoes regular checks of inventory with Retail Department Heads to update digital platforms as neededDelegates to, motivates, trains, and mentors Front End Cashiers to promote their developmentDocuments, investigates, escalates, and resolves employee or guest incidentsPerforms other duties as required or assignedQualifications1+ year of experience as a supervisor in a retail setting, with experience leading a cashier team preferredAbility to handle money accurately and perform mathematical equationsExcellent verbal communication skillsAbility to remain organized in a hands-on, fluid environmentIntermediate computer skillsBachelor's Degree preferredJob RequirementsAvailability to work onsite with a flexible schedule including evenings and weekendsAbility to lift up to 50 poundsAbility to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending, and squattingAdditional InformationMedical, Dental, Vision InsurancePaid Time OffPaid Parental Leave401K with match Free family meal dailyDiscounts at EatalyClasses on products and Italian cuisineReferral bonus programand more!
Compensation:
