OVERVIEW

The Cashier is responsible for processing customer transactions accurately and efficiently while providing exceptional customer service. The Cashier creates a welcoming and helpful first and last impression and assists with front-end operations, including customer loading needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Make customer service the #1 priority by providing friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable service to every customer. Greet customers, offer assistance, answer questions, and address customer concerns as needed. Accurately and efficiently process all customer transactions while following cash-handling and company procedures. Maintain knowledge of store promotions, advertisements, pricing, and merchandise locations to assist customers and support sales. Recommend appropriate add-on products to meet customer needs and maximize the sales opportunity. Ensure all merchandise is accounted for and scanned before the customer leaves the store, including removing items from carts as needed during checkout. Coordinate and assist with front-end loading, including moving customer purchases to the loading area, staging merchandise, and assisting with loading plants and other merchandise into customer vehicles in a safe and courteous manner. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe front-end and checkout area, including stocking register supplies and front-end displays. Answer incoming phone calls and assist sales associates with pricing or merchandise information when needed. Work cooperatively with other associates and departments to provide a positive customer experience. Attend mandatory store meetings and required training. Follow all company policies and safety procedures. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

One or more years of retail, cashier, sales, or customer service experience preferred. Previous cash-handling experience preferred.

OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS

Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and coworkers. Ability to accurately and efficiently process transactions. Basic computer and point-of-sale skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. Ability to multitask and work effectively as part of a team. Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds regularly. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, primarily on concrete and other hard surfaces. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and move merchandise and customer carts. Ability to safely assist with front-end loading and moving customer purchases into vehicles. Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.

From $14.00 per hour
