Cashier / Customer Service & High-Volume Line Cook Join The Bone Sauce at The Big E The Bone Sauce is a national award-winning Massachusetts food company, and we are hiring two team members to join us for all 17 days of The Big E in Springfield, Massachusetts. We are hiring for two distinct positions : 1.
Cashier / Customer
Service 2. High-Volume Line Cook These are temporary event positions with a demanding schedule. Applicants must be prepared to work at least 12 hours per day for 17 consecutive days. To support our team during the event, Airbnb accommodations are available and transportation to and from The Big E will be provided. POSITION 1
CASHIER / CUSTOMER SERVICE We are looking for an outgoing, energetic, and dependable person with excellent communication and people skills. This is not simply a register position. The cashier is one of the primary faces of The Bone Sauce and will interact with hundreds of customers throughout the event. You must be comfortable talking to people, answering questions, explaining our menu, taking orders, and keeping customers moving through the ordering process during extremely busy periods. Cashier Responsibilities Greet and engage customers in a friendly and professional manner Take customer orders quickly and accurately Operate our POS/register system Process cash and credit card transactions Explain menu items, products, pricing, and options Answer customer questions confidently Recommend products and help customers make purchasing decisions Manage customer lines during high-volume periods Communicate orders clearly with the cooking team Maintain a clean and organized POS/customer service area Assist with opening, closing, setup, and breakdown Represent The Bone Sauce professionally throughout the event Ideal Cashier Candidate Has excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills Is outgoing and genuinely enjoys interacting with people Can communicate clearly in a loud, busy environment Has a friendly and professional personality Can remain calm and organized when there is a long line Is comfortable recommending and selling products Works quickly without sacrificing accuracy Is dependable and punctual Has the stamina required for long event days Previous cashier, restaurant, retail, hospitality, sales, or customer service experience is preferred.
POSITION 2
HIGH-VOLUME
LINE COOK
We are looking for an experienced High-Volume Line Cook who can produce a significant amount of food quickly while maintaining consistency, organization, food safety, and quality. Speed is extremely important for this position. The Big E can generate sustained periods of heavy business. Orders may come in continuously, and we need someone who can manage multiple orders at the same time and keep food moving. Being able to cook is not enough. You must be able to cook quickly, stay organized, and maintain production during a high-volume rush. Line Cook Responsibilities Cook and assemble menu items quickly and accurately Manage multiple orders simultaneously Maintain a high rate of food production during sustained rush periods Work with commercial grills and flat-top griddles Cook and reheat proteins Prepare and assemble wings, pitas, bowls, and other menu items Follow established recipes and preparation procedures Maintain consistent portions and presentation Maintain proper cooking and holding temperatures Anticipate product needs and restock before running out Organize the station for maximum speed and efficiency Communicate clearly with the cashier and other team members Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation Follow food safety and allergen procedures Assist with opening, closing, setup, breakdown, and equipment cleaning Ideal Line Cook Candidate Has previous professional line cook experience Has experience with high-volume food production Is fast and efficient on the line Can manage several orders simultaneously Understands how to organize a station for maximum efficiency Can maintain speed during long periods of heavy business Does not sacrifice quality or portion consistency for speed Anticipates what needs to be prepared or restocked Remains focused and organized under pressure Has strong stamina and work ethic Is dependable and punctual Can work independently without constant supervision High-volume restaurant, catering, concession, festival, fair, stadium, or event experience is strongly preferred. Experience with commercial grills and/or flat-top griddles is also preferred.
SCHEDULE & COMMITMENT
Please read this section carefully before applying. This is an intensive temporary position for The Big E.
Applicants must:
Be available for all 17 days of the event Be prepared to work at least 12 hours per day Be able to work 17 consecutive days Be able to stand and work for extended periods Arrive on time and ready to work every scheduled day Understand that event days can be extremely busy Reliability is critical. Because we are hiring a small team specifically for this event, we need individuals who can commit to the entire schedule.
PAY Starting Pay:
$15.00 per hour + tips Employees receive tips in addition to their hourly wage. Opportunities for increased hourly pay may be available based on performance, reliability, experience, and demonstrated ability.
AIRBNB & TRANSPORTATION
Because of the length of the event and the demanding schedule: Airbnb accommodations are available for our team. Transportation to and from The Big E in Springfield, MA will be provided. This allows our team to focus on working the event without having to make a long commute before and after each shift.
