A Head Cashier manages all checkout functions including ensuring adequate staffing levels on checkouts, the processing of sales transactions and refunds, monitoring cash drawer amounts and maintaining the checkout area. Head cashier provides first level escalation for customer issues and assists in the supervision and training of cashiers. Head cashier may also be responsible for opening or closing procedures of a store, including alarm operation, unlocking store and setting up of checkout area.

Job Description

We are a locally owned, multi-location farm and home retail chain serving Missouri communities, and we take pride in operating with integrity, accuracy, and a commitment to our customers. Our Cash Office Clerk is a part-time position averaging 15-20 hours per week. This role is critical to the daily financial operations of our store and requires someone who is detail-oriented, trustworthy, and comfortable working independently.
Responsibilities Include:
Open and prepare all POS registers at the start of each business day, ensuring each station is properly funded, functioning, and ready for customer transactions Verify and maintain the store safe, including counting and confirming the change fund at the beginning and end of each shift to ensure accuracy and proper cash levels Count, verify, and reconcile daily cash drawers and prepare bank deposits with accuracy and consistency Record and report daily deposit totals to store management and the administration office Review end-of-day sales reports and cash reconciliation reports for accuracy, flagging any discrepancies for immediate resolution Identify and resolve cash office discrepancies quickly and professionally, maintaining confidentiality in all financial matters Communicate with vendors regarding defective or returned merchandise, documenting transactions appropriately
