TBD JOB PURPOSE

Operate cash register to itemize and total customer purchases

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Greets customers Operates cash register to itemize and total customer purchases Reviews price sheets to note price changes and sale items Records prices and departments, subtotals taxable items Collects money from customer and makes change Obtains credit authorization on charge purchases in excess of floor limit Inspects merchandise prior to bagging to see that it is in satisfactory condition May cash checks Weighs items and redeems promotional coupons May stock shelves and mark prices on merchandise Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

(KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND

ABILITIES

): Must be at least 18 years old Good verbal communication skills Ability to handle a variety of customer requests and personalities. Must be people oriented. Good cash handling skills; prior use of cash register helpful Knowledge of state liquor laws if 21 years of age or older. Basic math skills

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school or GED No experience required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

Grocery store setting. Work schedule varies, flexibility required. Required to work weekends and holidays. Standing, 100% Standing, 100% up to three (3) hours at a time. Lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs.
