Seasonal Museum Shop Cashier Shaker Heritage Society - 4.0 Albany, NY Job Details Temporary | Part-time | Seasonal $18 an hour 12 hours ago Benefits Employee discount Flexible schedule Qualifications Retail sales transactions Payment processing Store closing procedures Cash register operations Organizational skills POS systems Full Job Description Overview The Shaker Holiday Market is a fun and fast-paced retail event in an 1848 Shaker Meeting House. The Market showcases the work of 90+ regional vendors of handmade goods. Over ten weeks we welcome ~10,000 shoppers to our historic site. We are looking for a seasonal cashier to welcome visitors and process sales with friendliness and efficiency. The Market runs from October 13th - December 18th and the cashier will be asked to work some weekend days and select holidays. A regular schedule will be set in coordination with the Museum Shop Manager at the time of hire. The museum shop operates Tuesday-Sunday from 10am-4pm. There is a half hour paid lunch break during each shift of 6 hours or more, and staff are eligible for a 20% discount on all merchandise.
REQUIRED SKILLS
POS experience The ability to communicate clearly with staff, volunteers, and members of the public of varying ages and levels of ability. Good customer service and organizational skills. The ability to work alone or as part of a team. Common sense and initiative. Able to work flexible hours. The ability to remain calm, level headed and polite in demanding situations.
WORK TASKS/DUTIES
To prepare the shop for the day, opening registers, doors, and tidying the shop. To courteously serve members of the public and accept payments. Monitoring stock levels and notifying Shop Manager of any issues. Direct and help customers with questions as needed. Reporting customer feedback to the shop manager. Support shop volunteer training as-needed. Closing the registers and shop at the end of the day. Other duties that may arise.
Pay:
$18.00 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 - 30.0 per week
