GENERAL DUTIES
Performs a variety of cashier and customer service duties, including greeting customers, answering the telephone, and processing payment transactions accurately and efficiently. Performs clerical work and data input. Reports to the Assistant Director of Collections.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
1. Receive payment by cash, check, money order, cashier check, or credit cards for current and delinquent property taxes. 2. Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or monies due to taxpayers. 3. Maintain daily reconciliation sheets for monies received. 4. Research, verify, and answer questions, complaints, or concerns regarding collection transactions. 5. Assist with the mobile home lien process. 6. Process payment discrepancies when needed. 7. Provide general office support, which includes filing, data entry, processing mail, and answering the telephone. 8. Assist with Notice of Protest calls and appraiser informal scheduling. 9. Pleasantly communicate with taxpayers to ensure satisfaction. 10. Build positive and good working relationships with other employees. 11. Contribute to team effort. 12. Performs related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school diploma or equivalent cashier experience. 2. Proficient knowledge of general data processing and clerical practices. 3. Proficient knowledge of P.C. operations and data entry procedures and practices. 4. Ability to read, write and understand written and oral instructions and effectively communicate with the public. 5. Basic knowledge of business machines, computer software and systems. 6. General knowledge of collection activities. 7. Detailed oriented and strong mathematical skills. 8. Strong communication skills and customer satisfaction-oriented. 9. Ability to demonstrate a positive and engaging attitude and demeanor.
