Duties Operate the cash register (POS system) accurately during retail sales transactions, including scanning items, processing payments, and issuing receipts. Handle cash drawer management with precision, ensuring proper cash handling and balancing at the end of each shift. Provide excellent customer service by greeting shoppers warmly, answering questions, and assisting with product demos when needed. Upsell products and promote store specials to enhance sales opportunities while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor. Stock shelves, organize merchandise displays, and ensure the sales floor is tidy and well-merchandised to optimize shopping experience. Maintain phone etiquette when assisting customers via phone inquiries or scheduling product demos. Support inventory management through stocking, merchandising, and participating in periodic stock counts. Demonstrate product knowledge of store items, including grocery or retail products, to assist customers effectively. Supervise or assist new team members in cashiering duties as needed, fostering teamwork and ensuring smooth store operations. Experience Previous experience in retail sales or grocery store environments is highly preferred. Demonstrated proficiency with POS systems and cash register operations. Experience supervising or mentoring team members is a plus. Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers confidently in bilingual settings if applicable. Basic math skills for handling transactions accurately and managing cash drawers efficiently. Knowledge of retail math principles for balancing registers and reconciling sales at shift end. Familiarity with merchandising standards and stock replenishment procedures. Excellent phone etiquette skills for professional customer interactions over the phone.
