Job Description
Purpose:
The Jefferson Vineyards Supervisor oversees daily Tasting Room operations, including inventory management and retail fulfillment, while providing exceptional customer service. This position ensures Jefferson Vineyards remains a welcoming destination that offers a rich, wine-history-centered experience. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are necessary for this position. Retail team training and supervision are required.Compensation:
$22.22 per hour + tipsEssential Functions:
Tasting Room Operations Open and close the retail areas Set up the customer service areas, making sure everything is service-ready according to manual guidelines. Unlock/lock doors as needed for business hours and ensure the front gate is open prior to the start of business. Print or copy menus used for daily operations. Conduct daily quality control of IT hardware, ensure all digital equipment is charged and functioning properly, and report any issues to IT. Maintain the organization and cleanliness of all guest areas, both indoors and outdoors, as well as employee areas, supply rooms, and wine storage. Delegates tasks necessary throughout the shift to ensure efficiency. Set up and break down events, including music, internal, and special events. Customer Service Warmly greet guests and provide information on products and services. Serve wine and related products to in-person guests. Sell wine, non-wine products, and experiences, including Wine Club memberships. Process Tasting Room, Online, and Wine Club orders and payments. Resolve customer communications and complaints, including Wine Club-related issues. Document customer service complaints and resolutions digitally. Check the Tasting Room voicemail and respond to messages daily. Read and respond to Tasting Room and Wine Club email. Maintain the cleanliness of guest areas. Staff Supervision Manage staff scheduling, and performance reviews for up to 20 direct reports with Manager approval. Ensure the accuracy of Jefferson Vineyards Associates' hours and approve timecards. Communicate staff and customer incidents to management. Train and onboard Jefferson Vineyards Associates. Delegate, coach, and keep staff on task during shifts. Inventory and Fulfillment Pull, print, and pack online and Wine Club orders. Update Wine Club membership profiles and document changes. Inventory wine and non-wine products in the retail areas. Create products and report on ordering needs. Update inventory when needed. Physically and digitally move inventory and record transfers. Stock retail and storage spaces. Order and maintain supply levels for Tasting Room merchandise, shipping and packing supplies, and custodial supplies, as needed. Fulfill and approve distribution and Wine Club orders. Other duties as assigned Provide feedback to management regarding policies and procedures. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities High School diploma (GED); some college preferred. Additional training, education, and/or certification(s) preferred. Retail sales experience required; wine knowledge preferred. Familiarity with ABC requirements, training and compliance with safety standards. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; quickly learns Jefferson Vineyards' POS system. Flexible and positive attitude. Hospitable and friendly demeanor. Willingness to learn about and educate customers on Jefferson Vineyards wines and history. Physical Demands and Work Considerations Monticello and Jefferson Vineyards include both interior and exterior environments and walking on steep and uneven ground is necessary. Monticello and Jefferson Vineyards are open 363 days a year. Non-traditional shifts such as early mornings, late evenings, weekends, holidays, or split shifts may be required based on staffing and forecasted sales. Ability to work all signature major events and most holidays, including the Fourth of July. Standing and walking on hard surfaces for long periods of time is required. Ability to work outside in varying weather conditions, including inclement weather. Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs.; push and pull weight repeatedly; reach overhead; and twist and turn wrists to open wine bottles and polish glassware. Must be able to bend, squat, stoop, and crouch repeatedly. Must be able to legally sell/serve alcoholic beverages (18+). Must be able to work in a team environment.
