Job Description

Are you friendly, dependable, and customer service oriented? Do you have basic knowledge of automotive service and small engines? Cockerham Tire & Auto Parts #102 located at 900 South Main Street Galax, VA is looking for Automotive/Small Engine Parts Specialist & Customer Service Representative. Cockerham is a 3rd generation, locally owned and operated, business providing a full line of propane and petroleum products to residential and commercial customers in Virginia and North Carolina. Cockerham also owns and operates 8 convenience stores (Galax, Hillsville, & Fancy Gap, VA), Hampton Inn and the Pizza Inn/TCBY in Hillsville, VA.
Primary Job Duties:
Ensures customers are greeted and handled in a timely and professional manner. Provides honest and trustworthy advice to customers regarding the best products that fit automotive and small engines. Ensures assigned store tasks are completed in a timely manner on assigned shift. Maintains store showroom appearance and merchandising standards as directed. Ensures that merchandise is restocked and placed in their respective areas. Utilizes Manager Plus to help customers locate merchandise or find suitable alternatives. Maintains product knowledge and current promotions through information sources. Communicates with managers regarding customer concerns and employee matters. Actively engaged in developing more effective customer service skills. Follows company policies and loss prevention procedures. Maintains a safe working environment including PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) Checks out customers on both Manager Plus and at the Cash Register. Runs Cash Register which includes all sales of products in store. This position floats between the parts counter and the front cash register throughout the shift. You will fill in where needed.
Position Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent. Must be 18yrs of age or older and have a valid driver's license. Basic knowledge of automotive and small engine parts is required. Excellent communication and decision-making skills. Ability to lift up to 50lbs, load, and deliver merchandise. Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the business needs.
