Job Description

Overview A private family in Weston, Connecticut is seeking a reliable and responsible Part-Time "Nanny" / Family Assistant to support their home during the week as well as their well behaved teenage son while his mother travels frequently for work. He does have his own car and drives. The family is looking for someone who can be a trusted presence in the home when Mom is away. This is a great opportunity for someone who is calm, responsible, and comfortable providing structure and support to an older child without being overly involved or intrusive. The son is described as a great kid who is responsible and generally needs only a little encouragement to stay on top of homework, practices, and his routine. He is independent and understands boundaries, so the family is looking for someone who can provide support without hovering. The ideal candidate will be mature, steady, and trustworthy - someone who can comfortably step into the home when Mom is traveling and provide the feeling of having "another mom" there. The family is very private and places a high value on discretion, professionalism, and respecting the boundaries of the household.
Schedule:
Overnight approximately 2-3 times per month when Mom is traveling Travel periods are generally 3-4 days at a time. The Family Assistant can leave in the morning when son goes to school and come back in the afternoon. Schedule during the week will typically begin around 2:30pm-8/9pm Additional hours may be added or adjusted to balance the weekly schedule Mom generally knows her travel schedule several weeks in advance ASAP start Responsibilities Being a responsible and trusted adult presence in the home while Mom is traveling Preparing dinner approximately four evenings per week Preparing light snacks before practices or activities Helping ensure homework and school responsibilities stay on track Providing gentle reminders around homework, routines, and curfew Maintaining a calm, comfortable household while Mom is away Communicating with Mom and providing updates as appropriate Respecting the family's privacy and household boundaries Qualifications Mature, responsible, and dependable Someone who can provide structure while allowing the child appropriate independence Respectful of privacy and professional boundaries Good communication skills Comfortable being a trusted presence in a private home Requirements Comfortable working with teenagers Calm and confident without being overly authoritative Strong judgment and common sense Must be willing to work within a highly private and professional household Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion Salary and Benefits $35 an hour during the 4-day work week Overnight pay and additional hours during travel periods to make up hours
